We actually have two sixth round picks because of a trade that occured during the 2008 NFL Draft. This is what my list would look like:

1. Michael Oher, OT - Our biggest need in my opinion

2. Robert Ayers, DE/OLB - A steal in the second round. In my three round mock draft, he falls to us.

3. Andy Levitre, G - I'm not really comfortable with the guys we have on the inside line now.

3. Dorell Scott, DT/DE - Desperate for depth in this position

4. Sammie Lee Hill, NT/DT - Could backup Pickett until ready to start, in a few years

5. Clinton McDonald, DT/DE - Another depth pick

6. Kyle Moore, DE/OLB - Depth pick

6. Daniel Holtzclaw, ILB - Multiple players required at the ILB, there has to be a lot of players, so we can keep good personnel when the season starts.

7. Neil Young, P - Promising punter, could start right away

Interesting. Reaching for SCott a little IMO. Sure would be a Defensive draft

Yeah, that Scott pick is a reach, but 3-4 DE depth is a big need. Wikipedia's 2009 NFL Draft page, and nfl.com's draft page clearly say that we have an extra third from the Jets and an extra sixth from the Saints.

4. James Davis RB - Clemson - Powerful between the tackles runner. May not be a #1 but could contribute on short yardage.

I like that pick.

Yeah, that'd be nice. I mean we have Grant and Jackson who are locks on the roster, and then Wynn and Lumpkin who are both promising, but Davis seems like the kind of guy that could start as a 3rd, and then be groomed to a bigger role.

I find Oher at 9 pretty interesting aswell. He's been all over the board, but from what I've seen, he usually goes somewhere between pick 15 and 25. Would we trade back or just reach on him a little at 9?

Robert Ayers would make me happy in the 2nd aswell. I'd still prefer Sintim, though. Mainly because of his experience in the 3-4 and he has shown some coverage skills.

Hopefully Marck Sanchez falls to us at number 9 so we can trade that pick to a team trying to get to Sanchez for the 49ers at #10. The Broncos maybe?

I don't know. The more I think about it, the more I think that they might go with Orton. I mean, he made Cassell look like an amazing QB and Orton really isn't that bad. He did some good things with pretty much nothing.

I see what you mean though. I think the Bucs might be out of the race. I think they'll take a good QB if he's there (If Freeman falls to 19 for instance), but I don't think they'll trade up. At least, I wouldn't, with Leftwich on the roster and alot of needs to fill.

The Jets though, would be a great team to trade up. They really need a QB and their 1st and 2nd round pick for our 1st rounder seems like a pretty fair trade.

Getting Oher with that 17th overall pick would make me very happy. It'd even leave us with two picks to get both a NT/DE and an OLB who could make an inmediate impact.

Paying attention, imo.

This is one of two good scenarios, imo. My third works, but is beyond my most optimistic/bizarro world hopes, so I'm holding it in abeyance, for the time being. It actually involves the Detroit Lions. It is some wacko shit, this is why it just might work.

I like Lumpkin and Wynn too but it seems like Grant is our only back with any durability. I don't think Lumpkin ever even made it a whole season in college.

Not exactly positive on who it was that had us taking Robert Ayers in the 2nd round. I would love this, but I seriously doubt he will be there. Mayock has him going somewhere around 13 (to the Redskins, I believe).

Anyway, I don't know the draft well enough to say who I hope for in rounds 3-7, but I will give my analysis on rounds 1-2.

1: This one is close between Andre Smith and BJ Raji....I'm going to have to go with BJ Raji. He's a physical monster, and I think he can be a great NT in this league. NT is also one of our needs, so I think it's a perfect fit.

2: Wow, now I have to decide on an OLB or an OT....I think this draft is pretty deep with offensive linemen, so I'm going to go with Larry English. Great pass rushing skills, and that's exactly what we didn't have last year (other than Kampy of course).

Probably not the best analysis ever, but I guess this is what I'm hoping for.
