Here is my assembled draft board. It goes 4 rounds.

Beyond that it is just too tough to call. It is a composite of several draft websites giving the players positions. It is what draft "experts" think of he relative value of the players.

I hope it is a more valuable tool than just one website.

So if the Packers are taking Mark Sanchez, who are they letting go? 😉

I make a composite of 5 fairly trustworthy draft sites in an effort to eliminate the errors and wide variables some players have.

I put a little effort into it to help people. I do it each year.

The last thing I need is some scoffing moderator who refuses to read; laughing at the work. Don't you realize the difference between a draft board and a mock draft?

If you trust only one draft source, you undoubtedly be way off. This gives a general idea of what several more reliable draft sources are saying.

I wasn't scoffing -- hence the wink -- I was asking a semi-serious, semi-facetious question.

I was pondering the fact that drafts are inherently unpredictable, and you have Sanchez slotted at #9. If by some miracle each team went exactly according to your proposed slotting system, the Packers would choose Sanchez. I found that to be an intriguing idea. Dfosterf mentioned recently that he'd want to personally run Ted Thompson out of town were he to choose a running back in the first round, so I found myself wondering what the uproar in Green Bay would be like if Thompson drafted yet another rookie quarterback -- in the first round no less? And if he did, whom would he choose to dangle as trade bait: Sanchez himself or one of our backups?

Please assume good faith unless you have solid evidence to the contrary. If you suspect someone is being snarky, at least ask have the courtesy to ask him to clarify his comments before flying off the handle.

P.S. I greatly appreciate all the hard work and effort you put into assembling this draft board. I don't think I would have had that kind of patience.

This is a good opportunity for me to remind my fellow members of an outstanding website as the draft draws near. It is worth the time and effort to read how they go about their business, and also to learn how you can manipulate the findings in order to account for various "what-if" scenarios, and you can also manipulate the assumptions as regards need.

I can tell you that their system has been uncannily accurate in the past.

I don't think they have a provision for it, but I did print out their "Big Board" and "Top Ten by positions" back in December... I like to track the movement, especially in light of how they go about their business with largely algorithms vs. emotions and prejudices.

Think of it as a player ranking moreso.. a weighted graded value chart.

It is entirely different than a mock.. the intention is to give an overall where a player is slotted, since every teams value and need draft board is different, this is intended as an overall guide.

IE.. Foster looking for 3rd round linebackers.. this ranking would give an idea of which backers may be available in the 3rd.. based on pure rankings..

Not a mock.

When I had more time in the offseason.. and was able to watch more college ball, I had a very similar draft board.. then would try and match the Packers needs to the board and come up with a guess to whom we may be looking at with each selection.. a grouping of 5 to 10 players that fit in correspondence to our slot/selection.

There is some danger in tracking this as described by Z.

For example, take Raji and Brace.

Let's go back to December:

On Drafttek's big board, they were rated 50th and 141st, respectively. This, after all the games had been played, and YES, they do account for 3-4 vs. 4-3 defenses, etc. ...as a matter of fact, they delve into "specialty" players moreso than just about anyone.

Look at where they are now. Keep in mind that they move based on other folks making selections...kind of a "California Cheez- squared" operation, and they refine everything, including where they get their raw data, based on past performances of the folks doing the input.

Hey dfosterf, Thank you for that link.

That site forms a big board similar to what I do. They don't reveal who or how many inputs they use. I naturally appreciate their methodoloy.

I noticed that where there is a difference with mine the numbers between the players is very small. I may have to change my tiebreakers.

I didn't put up that much of my spread sheet in order to lessen the confusion (as did they).

Let me point out for example, that the end of the first round beginning of the second the players are very close. The differences between say Michael Johnson, Eben Britton, and Evander Hood are very small.

To me that indicates a good spot for a team to trade down.

The Packers happen to be right near the edge of a bigger drop off in the first round. The difference between say Jeremy Maclin and Michael Oher is fairly substantial. I don't think Ted will trade down his first pick for that reason.

The middle of the second round there is a large drop off. The difference between say DJ Moore and Duke Robinson is rather large. Yet late in the second round again they get rather close say picks 56 to 65.

In the late third and very early fourth round they are close but between say 104 and 110 there is a large drop. That might be incentive for some teams after the drops to move up a short distance.

Looking at the numbers one can see certain patterns emerging.

Some players like Jamon Meredith OT of SC are very consistent in where they are ranked (My 5 have him from 57 to 61) while some like Ramses Barden are not (My 5 go from 56 to 111).

It appears to me that Draftek weighs CBS Sports (the broadcasting company) rather highly.

Anyway it is an art not a science. Some players get good reviews like Justin Harrell while ofthers like Josh Sitton are called a reach. Yet they suprise both good and bad.

Sometimes a 7th round compensatory pick performs better than the #2 overall as the Saints found out with Reggie Bush.

That's why it is fascinating and fun.

A trade down could get him NT Ron Brace.

Alex Magee NT Purdue

Lewis Keenan CB OR ST

Cornelius Ingram TE FL

#3B

Several CB's available here.

Trading back can get him

Travis Beckham TE WI

Jonathan Luigs C AZ

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season

beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.

beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
