I'm not sure where the "top 16" rating comes from. He was ranked 25th in QB Passer Rating and the same in passing percentage. He wasn't even in the top twelve in the NFC let alone all the good QB's over in the AFC.

Merely personal opinion.

If he fails in Denver, I'll retract it. Considering the crap he had to work with, I bumped him up.

EDIT: Some stats. 17th ranked QB in fantasy. 9-6 record in '08. 21-12 career record. Granted in his early career, da Bears used to be a good team.

Keep in mind, he's got no WRs, a good TE, and a line that makes ours good. His RB is equivalent to Grant. For what he's got to work with, he's done pretty well.

I'll bet our "visiting expert" (Boocheeman) is going to take exception to some/most/all of that, and I myself am somewhat skeptical in the "line that makes ours look good" department. After all, didn't Boocheeman have "greater-than" signs going every whichaway as regards his Bares, especially at running back? (I think he ACTUALLY said his boy was > AD. ---of course, he might have been rollin' some Raji's at the time.)

An offense is as good as your QB. Orton had as much to do with Chicago's weak numbers on "0" as anybody else. I have seen many good QB's put up solid numbers in an otherwise poor offense.

Orton is going to the 3-4 happy AFC where they place a premium on getting to the QB. The guy can't move. Denver was not bad at protecting Cutler but he moved well. I know anytime we played them and got pressure on Orton he didn't even think about completing a pass.

There's a lot more that goes into how successful he will be in Denver than having a couple of better WR's to throw to.

I heard reports of people saying the Denver offense scheme will be more suited for Orton than the Chicago scheme was. If you remember Orton threw the ball tons in college and seems to strive in an open up style offense, so we will see.

Good call - Orton ran Tiller's spread offense @ Purdue very well. I don't know a ton about McDaniels' scheme, but I do know I've heard it referred to as a spread scheme more than once. And it's certainly not pass-light, as evidenced by the numbers the Pats put up in 07. Add the upgrade @ WR, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him do well.
