So.....Saturday about noon my wife and I headed over to Helena to spend the weekend at a B&B just south of Helena back up in the mountains with her cousin Debbie and her husband, Randy. There was snow, of course, but we figured the roads were good, plowed, and it would be no problem getting up there. After all, we're Montanans and all Montana's have 4-wheel drive. We got to Debbie and Randy's house about 2pm....played a game of Tiger Woods 09 PGA Tour golf on the Wii. Randy and I failed to look outside at the weather. Somewhere between the 7th and 15th hole on the Doral Course a full blown blizzard (not the DQ kind) had thundered into the Helena area and all we saw when we looked outside was WHITE!

We quick loaded up and took off. Me riding shotgun and navigator, Randy in the pilots seat and the wives in back making rude comments about how stupid we were. We head south on I-15...destination Montana City, just 8 miles south. At mile 4 we can't see the edge of the highway and speed has dropped to 10mph.

We finally get off at Montana City...Randy plugs in the coordinates for the B&B to his Magellan GPS...and, hey, this is going to be a piece of cake. At mile 2 up Jackson Creek Road we hit a virtual white-out. We creep along and it lets up, but we realize that what had been 6 inches of new snow on the road was now a foot or more.

Just around the next turn...at least we think it was a turn...we see a car off the road and just the top of its hood and car top showing. "Man", Randy says, "that guy must be an idiot."

"That car doesn't have 4-wheel drive" I chip in. "No wonder."

We plow along for another 100 feet and Debbie finally says,"Randy, do you think we should try to make it in this weather?'

Randy...."NOPE, we better turn around." (first time he has aver agreed with Debbie)

My wife heaves out a sigh of relief and mutters...."20 more feet and Debbie and I were gonna be widows, 'cause I'd have shot both of you."
(gun rack with 30-06 is within one foot of her left hand.)

We finally find what looks like a place to turn around and Randy tells me to get out and see how deep the snow is in the "suppossed" driveway we're going to use. I step out and take two steps into 3 1/2 feet of new snow.

"This ain't a driveway Randy."

"No Shit!!" come three replies from the vehicle.

We finally get turned and head back. Get to the Interstate and find they have closed the sucker to all travel north and south. We manage to get on and head back to Helena. We spend the evening playing games, playing golf, and having a good time.

The storm didn't let up until late Sunday so we stayed put and headed home today. So much for a nice Spring break.

Even the squirrels were smart enough to stay in. I have to say that that was one of the worst wind driven storms I've seen in years. I quess some areas had drifts up to 10 feet deep.

I had a similar incident earlier this past winter.
We had BAD storm warnings out, for a BIG blizzard. But my wife wanted to go to the 24 hour WalMart in West Bend. So i figured, we could get there and back before the storm hit. Which we COULD have. But she was "shopping", and i couldn't get her out of the store. By the time i did, it was too late. A 20 mile drive turned into the drive from hell. I was white knuckling it all the way home. I could NOT see the road at all, and couldn't see 5 feet in front of my car.
It was NOT a fun ride. It was that "spider snow" that comes right at you, and you can't see ANYTHING. That was at 2am, and the plows were not even out yet.

Aaghhh.....snowing again here! I'm moving to Tabasco, Mexico. It's gotta be warm there and no shoveling snow.

Bob, you really crack me up. I hope I get to meet you next time you are in the area. Or maybe we can get together in Montana when I am out there this summer.

Most importantly, What did you shoot on the blue monster?

Without mulligans I shot aq 74. Not to bad. Randy shot a 85, but he had never played Tiger '09 and had trouble putting.

And, any time you get out her give me fair warning...It would be a blast to get together.

BTW..Trippster,,where are you in Milwaukee? I grew up there, and may be back this summer.

Zero2Cool (8-May) : Collin Whitchurch @cowhitchurch · 1h Chicago got a pope before it got a QB to throw for 4,000 yards in a season.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : New Pope from Chicago; in other words, the city produced a Pope before a 4000 yard passer

dfosterf (4-May) : FYI civilian companies swipe the S2 designation from the military. S2 is the intelligence branch up to brigade level. G2 is division level.
dfosterf (4-May) : Google it. Make sure to tack NFL on it or you will get the military meaning
Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.
beast (4-May) : In theory, the S2 test how quickly a QBs brain can solve game like issues and how quickly they can do it.
dfosterf (4-May) : Are you gentlemen and at least one lady familiar with the S2 cognition
Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.
beast (4-May) : NFL really needs to fix their position labeling issue, but I don't think they care
Zero2Cool (1-May) : Packers did not activate the fifth-year options for linebacker Quay Walker, with the goal of signing him to a contract extension.
Zero2Cool (1-May) : Matthew Golden spoke with Randall Cobb before draft. Looked like chance encounter.
packerfanoutwest (1-May) : from a head left turn?
packerfanoutwest (1-May) : someone drunk?
Zero2Cool (1-May) : Unlikely.
dfosterf (30-Apr) : How long until Jeff Sperbeck's family sues John Elway ?
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : Packers are exercising the fifth-year option on DT Devonte Wyatt, locking in a guaranteed $12.9M for the 2026 season.

beast (27-Apr) : Yeah, but also some of the wording suggestions Jax only pranked called the QB, not the others... and if he had an open spreadsheet & 3 calls
beast (27-Apr) : Thank goodness he's not leaving the Turtle in the Red Tide
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : Cowboys 1st round pick Tyler Booker will indeed be bringing his pet turtle to Dallas with him
