I was just sitting here thinking about our schedule next year and found it very interesting. We get the 2 best AFC teams from last year in Baltimore and Pittsburgh, also we get the NFC Rep from the Super Bowl in the Cards. So i was thinking damn we have a tough schedule when it hit me. We actually have a somewhat easy schedule. Here is what makes me think that:

of the 16 games we play we are playing against Seattle, Rams, Cleveland, 49ers, Lions, and Bucs. SO you ask me what do those teams all have in common? They all have new head coaches this year so thats 7 of the 16 games against new coaches.

Just thought i would throw this little fact out there how we get the best teams from last year but yet get 7 of the top 9 in the draft ( we do play ourselves in the preseason so i guess it could make it 8 of 10 lol)

Like i said just a tid bit to ponder on.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

So do you consider facing new coaches a positive or negative. If we end up facing these new coaches early. There is going to be a bunch of unknowns about what they will be doing with their new personnel.

If we face them late, there will be more known about what they are doing. Just think about what it was like for other teams when McCarthy took over. I think he had a benefit of the unknown on his side. We will be facing that some this year, and it is not usually good.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Those out of conference games will be tough. Pittsburgh will be tough. Baltimore's offense doesn't scare me. But the defense is another thing.

As far as facing new coaches. Seattle is a veteran type team. I think Mora is the wrong guy for the job IMO, but I wouldn't go as far as saying they are an easy W. The Rams, Cleveland, 49ers, Lions, and Bucs....of those teams, The Bucs are the most capable at this point.

I don't want to jump ahead and predict who we can and cant beat. A lot can happen, in terms of personnel, from now until the season kicks off.

I know anything can happen, just think 3 of the final 4 teams last year had a coach with less than 3 years head coaching experience. But just from looking at how bad the teams were last year can give you a little ease, like i said we play 7 of the 10 worst teams from last year, would be 7 of 9 but we are in there. So those teams have alot of holes to fill. Don't get me wrong i can see the Lions getting 8 wins this year.

Well Bigby i see them making alot of moves to improve themselves and just think they still have 3 of the top 33 picks coming. I think you will see them improve big time.

I don't know. The Dolphins won 1 game and went to the play-offs this year. It is possible. At this point though, they haven't done enough to get over a win or 4 I think.

As for our schedule, it seems to be made up of complete opposites atm. I mean, 49ers, Seahawks, Bengals, Bucs after their overhaul etc. They all seem like pretty bad teams atm. On the other side we get the Steelers, Ravens, Cardinals, Cowboys. I all see them as superior to us at this time.

The only games I'd really call close atm re the Vikings and Bears.

Ofcourse alot can still change. We haven't even had the draft.

I bet the pack goes from 6-10 to 10-6 this season even with their tough schedule.

Well, you never can tell who's going to be good or who's going to be bad. Look at the Falcons and Dolphins last year; who knows what the 49ers, Bengals, etc. will be like this year?

I can see the Lions winning between 6-8 games next year just from what they've done so far and they have something like 3 picks in the first 33 overall...

And plus they just got Julian Peterson in a trade from Seattle.

Anyway, alls I'm saying is that nobody can tell who will be good or bad next year, so I don't think we can really guess our record accurately right now.

(Although, it could make some good offseason arguments, haha...)

beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
