INDIANAPOLIS -- Thompson is well-known for his draft day trades. But he is planning on holding on to the No. 9 overall pick in April, much like he did when the Packers chose No. 5 overall in 2006. That pick turned into linebacker A.J. Hawk.

"Most of the time, we've picked with our first pick," Thompson said. "I suspect that'll be the case this year. There's going to be a good pick there for us."

Pretty much a perfect spot. The odds of getting a play maker or an anchor for one side of the ball or other is pretty high.

I am also sure that Thompson, is not going to let any of his plans get out. He keeps it pretty close to the vest. I am also sure if a team calls up and gives the right offer, he would move back also.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

One could argue that the 6th through about 10th to 12th spot in the draft is about the optimal selecting zone.

You get a choice of top notch talent yet, but you avoid the huge dollars tied to the first 5 picks of the draft.

I just want to run a trade by you people. I know he is an Inside linebacker but he seems to be a beast. We trade our 1st and 4th to KC for their #3 overall pick and grab Curry and the Chiefs should still be able to get Sanchez at #9. Seeing we have 2 3rds i figure giving a 4th wouldn't hurt much.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be šŸ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I don't know. That doesn't seem like fair value on the Chiefs's part.

Chiefs (2,200) vs. Packers (1350+84). I'd think we would need to throw in our 41st overall too (1350+490+84 = 1924)...still stretching it. Moving that far up is a big jump.

I think curry is too light for a good OLB for us ... we got enough ILBers IMO.

although I havnt seen the guy play - seeing how hawk is been playing so-so the past season

Well Wils I wasnt sure how it would work out but still would be nice lol. To be honest i have no clue on who we should take at #9, I'm thinking Raji would be best but who knows. We have alot of doubts right now on who can play LB and who can play DE. So why draft more players we are not sure on.

That would be a great trade for the Pack, but KC would never do it, but if they did, great, but I think Ted Thompson would take a premier left tackler, but you never know.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.

wpr (23-Jul) : I thought so Mucky. In those useless player polls GB always rates high overall. Locker is a part of it.
