Didn't Kampman just get a new contract last year or the year before? I thought it was a relatively long term deal, like 5 or 7 years.

I thought maybe Tauscher would get it. I think maybe he should. He's an UFA otherwise correct?

Taucher, Cole and Monty will be UFA if no contract is signed before the start of FA.

Rumor is Cole and Monty have said no to offers from GB. The report was that the Packers offered a 3 year deal to Cole for 7 million. No word on Tausher contract but I think he usually trys to keep that stuff away from the media. Or at least there was no word about the raise Ted Thompson gave Tausher before the NFL office let out a report and usually there is some.

Nobody will get the tag this year.

This is where Ted Thompson has excelled over other GM's. Many teams are CURRENTLY well under the Cap but they have a lot of players they still need to sign. We don't.

By the time all teams get done trying to hold onto players they want to keep GB will have an edge over most in money available. People here would like to see him go after some of these high end FA's and that's fine as long as there is enough left to be in position to hold onto guys like Jennings whenever they can get a deal done with him.

Right now he is in position to front end load a couple of FA contracts as long as he structures it so their salaries next year don't hog tie him from signing Greg J.

This is much more of a chess match with how the money flows than just saying "we go the money, go sign some guys." You sign a couple FA's whose following year contracts cut into the cap and there's players you don't want to lose it can get tight quick.

Wait, so we are going to be returning the same roster as last year? We're well under the cap? Don't have any major players that are not under contract to sign?

WTF is going on? This is absurd. This Ted guy sucks. He has all this going for him and he can still only win 6 games? He better get suited up and win us 13 next year. Flat out, straight up YO!

Who's going to get tagged?!?

Anyone that looks like they are dogging it in minicamps and into training camp.

By whom you ask...

KEVIN GREENE..

Guys better have their heads on a swivel.. cuz he is going to bring in daily.

Damn... I hope he seriously lays someone out.

Oh.. more so on topic... we will tag notta.. like it should be.

However, we better lock up one of the two (Jennings or Kampman) before the end of next season.. even if Kampman struggles in the 3-4... he would have considerable value next offseason in trade.

Why should we tag anyone because I think we should sign no one from our current UFAs? None of them are nearly worth big contracts, and the tag would make their salaries among the top 5 in the league. There's no reason to do that. Also, despite what has been said earlier in this thread, Terrell Suggs has not been tagged, neither has Nnamdi Asomugha. Nnamdi will not be, Suggs will probably be, but he is not yet.

Raiders | Asomugha believes he probably will be franchised
Fri, 06 Feb 2009 12:55:24 -0800

Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports Oakland Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha, who is an impending free agent, said he probably will receive the franchise tag this offseason.

Ravens | Prepared to use franchise tag on Suggs
Tue, 17 Feb 2009 11:17:56 -0800

Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports the Baltimore Ravens are prepared to use their franchise tag on DL Terrell Suggs if they can't sign him to a new deal by Thursday, Feb. 19, according to general manager Ozzie Newsome. The one-year contract offer would be worth $10.2 million.

I guess we will find out tomorrow.
