Don't forget about this kid. I think he could be very good as a pass rushing LBer.

Looking at some old info for him, it shows that he was a 6'4 232 lb player coming out of college. He has bulked up to 270 now. He ran a 4.54 on his pro day. Barnett 40 was 4.67 and Hawk was 4.59

He had the 54 yard fumble recovery for TD this year.

I see some possibilities with this kid in the 3-4.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

I would at least give him a shot at linebacker and see how he covers. I like the idea of him being back there.

I also like Brady Poppinga in this system.

Props to you PFWTwins for posting this, I was thinking about it earlier too.

I remember a comment from one of the beat writers near the end of the season that questioned Jason Hunter's mentality and mental toughness because the beat writer suggested Hunter was the fasted and one of the strongest linemen on the D-line, yet struggled to provide any production.

Perhaps if Hunter has better coaching, he'll be more productive and play more to his potential. I think he's definitely one player to keep an eye on, someone who has all the tools to excel in the 3-4.

Didn't I hear somewhere that his contract was up after this past season?

he's a restricted free agent so the packers can match any offer by another team, if they put a tender on him. additionally i think they may put the middle tender on hunter since he was a non-drafted free agent, which would leave the packers without any compensation, if they do not match the offer of another team (with the middle tender it would be a 2nd round draft choice).

Well I hope we get him signed. That would be two outstanding special teams players gone in 2 consecutive years. (Tracy White and Jason Hunter)

I think Hunter, Thompson and Lasanah can all be good pass rushing OLB's.

Not necessarily as a starter but can provide strength in depth backing up whoever we bring in.

If we couldnt pass rush with our current personnel in the 4-3, i'm not so sure we will all of a sudden be able to pass rush in the 3-4. We will have to bring in 1 or 2 new players who can play that role.

Looking at Baltimore and Pittsburgh they have at most 5 OLB in their 53 man roster.

McCarthy has confirmed that Kampman will be an OLB so that's 1. Thompson will almost certainly be in there so thats 2.

Poppinga is supposed to be a perfect fit. Chances are, since we signed him to a new contract means he will stay. So 3 places already taken up.
Ted Thompson will bring someone in, either Suggs or someone in the draft. That's 4.
Ted Thompson liked Lasanah enough to cut White to prevent him going to Miami. There is no way he is going back on the practise squad cos Miami will come sniffing again. The fact that Miami is a 3-4 team is interesting. This suggests that Lasanah is a good fit to that scheme. The final 5th place will be between him and Hunter imo and the way things stand now, Lasanah edges Hunter for that final spot.
