Congrats to Myles White for the promotion

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg broke the news on Tuesday that the Green Bay Packers are going to have to replace Myles White, who served as a coaching assistant for Green Bay in 2024 after beginning his coaching career at the college level. White, who also suited up for the Packers as a player, has previously been a wide receivers coach for Stephen F. Austin (2021) and Miami of Ohio (2022-2023).

Now, White will return to college football as the receivers coach and passing game coordinator for the Syracuse Orange , who are headed into their second year under head coach Fran Brown. Last year, Syracuse’s receiver coach and passing game coordinator was Ross Douglas, who recently took a job with the Oregon Ducks . Prior to his stint with Syracuse, Douglas was the New England Patriots ’ receivers coach in 2023.

Replacing a former out-right assistant NFL coach is a big move for White’s coaching career, which I hope flourishes. White was one of three positionless assistants on the Packers’ 2024 staff. The other two, Sean Mannion and Sean Duggan, were given full-time on-field roles for the 2025 season. Mannion is now the team’s quarterbacks coach while Duggan replaced Anthony Campanile at linebackers coach following Campanile’s move to Jacksonville to become the Jaguars’ defensive coordinator.

If White was helping out receivers, the position he played at the NFL level, the good news is that there’s still some coaching experience in that room. Rhyan Mahaffey, who took over the receivers coaching job in 2024 after serving as the Packers’ assistant offensive line coach from 2022 to 2023, is returning for 2025. Green Bay also hired Luke Getsy as a senior offensive assistant in 2025. Getsy previously served as a receivers coach for the Packers in 2016 and 2017.
