LMAO.

I'm still not sure whether MM is going about the process the right way. There is so much rampant speculation, but it's just that: speculation. Very little about the interviewing process has gotten out.

However, based on reports MM's choices are the biggest names available. Not to say that Nolan and Williams (and I guess Hasslet) are bad coordinators, but perhaps a little more outside the box thinking might not be that bad? That and MM might have been better served letting the DC decide who he wanted to retain from the old staff.

Dear Mike,

Please don't hire Jim Haslett.

Sincerely,
Me

I second the motion.. there is just something about the guy that I don't trust as a heavy influence on the team.. can't say exactly what it is, but watching him in New Orleans, there was just something missing.

Well, it appears that Gregg Williams could go to Tennessee. It's more attractive there than it is here if you look at the records and how good the defense played last year.

Anyway, wasn't Haslett the DC of the Rams before he became the interim HC? How good was the Rams' defense? Not very good...

I look at it the other way around. We have a lot of talent here and yet there is great room for improvement whereas in Tennessee they have established a high level on the defensive side and any slip would be a reflection on him(regardless of whether it was warranted or not).

I could see a DC coming in here and improving the Packers defense by several places over last year and looking like a hero and whoever goes to the Titans possibly slipping a few notches for whatever reason and getting worn out over it.

He was the Pittsburgh DC from 1997 through 1999... I provided the ranking of the defense for the years around that period.. not a glowing endorsement of him coaching up the talent.. years before and after we better D's.

Granted yearly talent changes and injuries happen, but I think there is value in the stats there.

I agree. And judging by how this seems to be going (here's where your 'specualtion' comment rings most true, I think), one starts to wonder if outside the box thinking will be even more important, because they don't seem to be able to lure the biggest names to GB.

I'm probably just being too negative, but it's a little disheartening to see the big names choose other situations. Feels like it happens too much.
I'll be glad when this is all over, because the process as it's shaking out is a bit of a bummer.
