OL didn't fall where I wanted it mock draft.

I think at picks #49, #112 and #156, OL that ai wanted all got picked one or two spots before my selection.

Potential Dream Draft?
pff_mock_results - 2023-10-29T120810.601.png You have insufficient rights to see the content.

#7: Arguably the best all around OL in the draft falls to the Packers. (Note, PFF has the best pure Passion Blocking OT as the only one ranked higher than him).

#39 Multiple QBs fall, I selected the top ranked QB that wasn't in the Pac-12. Why am I discriminating against the Pac-12?

Well the Pac-12 has 3 of the top 4 ranked QBs and 4 of the top 7. Are the Pac-12 QBs that much better? Or is the Pac-12 coverage so poor that it's making them look better? Plus McCarthy supposedly has a canon arm strength so hopefully we can start hitting the deep bombs again, something even Rodgers struggled with, connecting with his deep guys.

#49 OT Morgan rarely falls this far, usually he's selected early. He usually plays LT, but if Alt is there, he'll have to move but I think he can adjust.

#71 Top ranked Center, where is seems it might be slim pickings and I wonder if the Packers might look towards FAs to upgrade the Center role. Also has the size to play OG.

#107 One of the best run stuffers this year.

#135 On the down side, a 5'9" CB, BUT he's been one of the best slot CBs in the nation for two years in a row and has played decent against the run, and CB Nixon is a FA.

#144 Usually he doesn't fall this far, but it gives the Packers more freedom to put Tom wherever he's needed more. Also has the size to play OG.

Looks like a pretty good draft Beast.
I would pee my pants if we get J. J. McCarthy quarterback of MICHIGAN with our # 2 pick.

One that's a bit different... the top QBs and LTs didn't fall to the Packers, but TE Bowers, maybe the top TE in a long long time falls to to the Packers and Chargers are Saints are willing to give up two first and Chargers throw in a 4th.

pff_mock_results - 2023-11-02T182845.047.png You have insufficient rights to see the content.

#6 Trade Down to #14 and get Chargers 4th and next year's 1st. (I won't state the other trades but can see them in the visual)

#14: Packers get the best RT in college, specialist in run blocking.

#38: A very good all around CB

#49: A very good pass blocking LT, but don't expect much in terms of run blocking

#76: Best Center in this draft, also has the size to play OG.

#79: Gute gets a Wisconsin RB after trying to trade for one earlier this year, plus Gute seems to prefer stocky RBs and Allen is that.

#106: PFF might think it's a reach, but Packers need some of the better run stopping DL like this.

#114: Back to large RB, Packers seem to like to have two and Dillon contract is up, and Jones is going into a contract year (if they don't straight up release him, or if he refuses to reduce his contract like he did before this year he could be gone).

#143: Center that has the size to also play OG. Trying to give the most flexibility inside.

#161: S Moore that has played a good bit of snaps in the slot this year.

Championship! 🏆
pff_mock_results - 2023-11-22T111101.429.png You have insufficient rights to see the content.

#9 TE Bower
I'm sure most won't love a TE selection, but it was clearly the best player on the board, and Bowers is unlike any other TE in decades, he actually MIGHT be worth a ton 5 overall pick. He has no clear weaknesses.

Also, LaFleaur would like to use two TE sets, and both Bower and Musgrave can play a WR role so even if a new coach that only likes putting one TE out there, there is still room for both.

#41 LT Morgan
It doesn't matter whom the QB is, the Packers need to improve their OL play. Morgan is the best on the board, 3 year starters at LT and will compete for starting time unless Bakhtiari is back to his old self and still with the Packers.

#43 QB McCarthy
Love might be the QB of the future, or he might not... either way, if McCarthy falls this far, he might be a good gamble to develop for the future.

Also, some mock drafts have McCarthy as a top 10 overall pick, so I'm going to list a backup option here as CB TJ Tampa, Iowa State

#73 DT Sweat
At 6'4" 360 lbs, he's got the size for NT, but with Texas system he's mainly been used over the OGs, and he's been extremely active in both the run and pass game. Though Texas (like most schools) do rotate their DTs a lot to keep them fresh, it's unclear how he'll do with a higher snap count at that size.

Trade
I was hoping to trade back a bit and grab two IOL in the 90s here. But a over half of the IOL were taken before 91. I still could of grabbed two Centers, which have OG size, but I decided against it, especially since I thought they needed a RB and wasn't sure if the RBs would fall to the next pick (though they did).

#91 C Van Pran
I believe he's the top Center in this draft, he's not the most athletic, but he's physical, tough, consistent and gets the job done. Also has the size to play at OG at 6'3" 310.

#96 RB Estime
5'11" 225 RB, quick physical RB that has played well in both power and zone concepts usually among the leaders in yards after contact. Hasn't been used in the passing game much, but hasn't dropped a pass this year. At times has had issues with fumbles, but that's about the only issue. In his worse season he averaged 5.6 yards per carry.

#135 RB Davis
5'10" 215 RB, they're running the wide zone with an offensive coordinator from Sean McVay line, so he knows the system well and has been used more in the passing game, hard running in the SEC.

#165 LT Foster
Another 3 year starter at LT, in the SEC, and has graded out well for 3 straight years. Foster might be a bit of a tweener, in that he won't be the most athletic OT, but also might not be Mauler enough at OG. But he's got an elite zone run blocking grade, though a below average power run blocking grade. I think he'll be able to backup all OT and OG positions and might be able to grow into more.

#187 Slot Moore
More than 67% of his snaps each season have come from the slot role. He's stepped his game up this year and been very very good in both coverage and run support. Packers currently slot CB Nixon is a FA after the season.

#217 S Proctor
One year starter, but it's been a good year, mostly playing deep FS. Which the Packers need more experience there as most of their young Safeties have more experience playing slot than deep.

#219 OL Gray
4 year starter at LT, but he's having his worse season, struggling most in pass protection, 6'4", I think he'll be moving to OG in the pros.

I'm all about drafting JJ McCarthy from Michigan.
Especially if we can get him in the second round or later.

Different type of Mock

Gute keeps doing drafts that are Defense in the 1st round and then Offense after. Where this one is mainly Defensive.

pff_mock_results - 2023-12-02T140003.577.png You have insufficient rights to see the content.

CB McKinstry
Elite Coverage Potential

LT Morgan
OT depth for losing Nijman and if Bakhtiari isn't back could compete with Walker for starting LT.

ILB Cooper
Absolutely elite year, and if NFL GMs believe that's his true potential than he'll probably be. A 1st rounder and not fall this far. But he has ILB Walker like coverage potential and teams will certainly take that.

DT Wingo
An undescribed lower body injury hurts his season, and yet he still played well though it. Until they decide on surgery that took him out for at least 6 weeks. But last year (2022) he led all college DTs with 821 snaps. First DT to break 800 snaps since 2019. Also shorter than Gute seems to like, Wingo is more in the Mike Daniels mold. Probably stuck to the 3 technique in the pros and not as versatile as others, but has a high run stopping rate still.

OLB Sawyer
Sawyer has had big jumps in playing time in each of the last two years and he seems to keep exploding into a new talent level too. Including a top 5 run defense of all of college in 2023.

RG Ratledge
There are a number of interesting OL in this range, but all of Gute's OL draft picks have been between 6'4" flat and 6'6" flat and none of them fit that. Ratledge is the closest, at 6'6⅛", though that's almost too tall for IOL.

RB Estime
Large physical RB with very good quickness for zone running despite being a larger back.

S Moore
Mainly a slot CB despite the Safety label, but Nixon is a FA and even if we re-resign him, the Packers don't have much depth in the slot.

RB Davis
I don't know how it'll translate from a very small school to the NFL, but Davis has dominated his small school level.

S Proctor
One year wonder, but it's been a very good one year, and this is a late round pick.

TE Spann-Ford
Possibly a boom or bust player, if he booms he could be a young Mercedes Lewis, as he's a 6'7" 270 and was very good in 2022 as a blocking TE that could also catch. But he decided to return to college in 2023, to show off his receiving skills and that was a mistake as he's struggled all around this year. But 7th round for a boom or bust guys is normal.

OL Gray
He's been at LT for at least 3 years, but I think he'll get moved to OG in the pros. He's got the run blocking down, but I think NFL edge rushers will be too good for his pass blocking, but I think he could do well inside.

New Mock Draft since we're currently now slotted picking much lower.

pff_mock_results - 2023-12-11T104653.100.png You have insufficient rights to see the content.

Trade down two spots and pick up an extremely high 4th. I was also hoping the Cardinals would draft LSU QB so that Vikings wouldn't get him, but neither ended up taking him anyways.

S Nubin
All around Safety in a large Safety body.

CB King
In 2022 King looked like he might possibly be the best CB in college, but not so much in 2023. But run defense was much better. Slightly smaller than preferred, 5'10¾" 191 lbs, but the high ceilings potential is there, but he's only consistently shown it one year. So a risk, but potentially a huge reward.

C/OG Powers-Johnson
Shorter than Gute prefers (but most Centers are), but top graded Center and has enough size that he can still play OG.

WR Wilson
6'6" 240lb, as you could image, one of the top college run blockers at WR and in 2022 PFF graded him out as the 38th best route runner at that huge size. He took a step back in 2023, but the potential is still there and Packers drafted Reed and Musgrave despite their last year not being their best year. Though too many drops, not crazy, but needs improvement. But he's a mismatch nightmare.

DT Smith
He might stay in college, as he was often thought to be a future 1st round pick based on hype/potential, but he's 6'5" 315lb (and could probably naturally put in a bit more muscle without losing speed) and extremely athletic. HUGE potential to become a great pass rusher, but currently not there yet, especially in the run defense department. But huge pass rush potential, though it might take time to develop, and he might stay in college.

RB Irving
Rushing skills were graded above 90 the last two years by PFF and Irving had the most catches of any RB in college in 2023. 5'9" 195 lbs

DT Davis
Run defense, run defense, run defense

Trade up, so that I get both the DT and RB that I wanted, even though the trade up is with the Vikings. Ironically, Vikings use both of their picks on RBs... Ray Davis and Miyan Williams.

RB Allen
6'1⅝" 245 lb RB with pretty good straight line speed and power

S Procter
Athletic S but one year starter

LB Hunter
Don't know much about him, but wanted something different and his coverage grade looked pretty good.

T Davis
T Gray
Packers are potential losing Runyan, Bakhtiari and Nijman, and could use some more bodies. Davis might be able to stay at OT with some development. I probably will move Gray inside to OG.

1) OLB Verse: We don't need another OLB, but can you have too many good edge rushers? Van Ness and Verse develop to be the stud of the future while Gary holds it together now.

Next option would of been Alabama's #2 CB whom was very very good in coverage and elite in run defense.

2a) LT Morgan: If he falls this far, he'll probably be the best OT available.

Trade down as I didn't love the section that were ranked higher.

2b) DT Sweat 6'4" 350lbs and athletic... still developing, more of a DT than a NT at this point, but huge potential if they can develop it.

3a) WR Wilson: A TE sized WR and good run blocker, Musgrave and Wilson can be used in a lot of non-blocking similar ways.

3b) RB Corum: Gute seems to like stalker RBs, and while Corum is very short, he is also stocky. Great at getting though holes, but hasn't done a good job this year at breaking tackles like he has in past years, but I think getting though those first holes is a priority as we have seen with Jones and this OL as they aren't going to be making huge holes.

3c) C Van Pran: Not the most athletic, but he's tough and physically and 3 year starter which includes 2 National Championship and so far only lost one game in the non-Championship year.

4a) RB Benson, 6' 225lb, was breaking tackles at an unbelievable rate in 2022.

4b) G Beebe: Has played LT, LG and RT but hasn't found a place he hasn't played very well at. Probably not long or athletic enough for OT in the pros, but I can't see a reason why teams wouldn't love him at OG.

6a) Slot Moore: Moore is listed as a S but he's mainly been a slot CB. Larger than most slot CBs but still fairly athletic.

6b) DT Robinson: Robinson is playing Edge Rusher this year, but he's 300 lbs and all prior years he's played DT. So I think he's going back to DT in the pros and I hope he can be like Brooks and be a tweener that looks great in a rotation.

7) S Procter: Only one year as a starter, but it's been an impressive one year.
