This is the 2nd time that Crosby has posted a video him kicking FGs after Carlson has struggled. Giving off "a jilted exe who can't take a break-up/are you sure you're happy with him?" vibes.

On the plus side, it led to a wonderful exchange between Crosby and Michael Rodney of Bitter Notes, er, Packers Notes to the delight of Bakhtiari

If you can not kick the ball into the end zone, you sure aren't gonna make many FG's 40 yds or longer

Crosby has been posting tons of videos all training camp trying to get attention of any and all NFL decisions makers, trying to get a job.

It's not his fault that certain media only direct his comments towards the Packers. Crosby is trying to get a job, and you can't blame a man for trying to get paid.

Isn't it interesting that only the Packers are the "foolish" for not re-signing Crosby? Not a single other team needs a kicker. 🙄 That no other organization has brought hi in for a tryout says something.

I think everyone thinks the Cowboys will bring in a veteran kicker at some point, including the Cowboys hinting at it at times. Not sure why they haven't done it yet... maybe seeing if they can find a decent cheap rookie or trying to play hardball and make those prices go down. Or teams used to make sure low on the depth chart veterans weren't on the roster week 1, as their salary was then guaranteed or something for the season, or some mess.

But Crosby is from central Texas, and he knows the Cowboys head coach and assistant ST coach from his time with the Packers (among others on the the offensive and defensive coaches).

If the Cowboys can't find a cheap young answer, seems like it's the perfect fit whenever it comes around.

Yeah, my point is, token tryout aside, other teams need to look at kickers and Crosby is still playing with his son. No one is burning up his phone line. I am not saying he won't end up on a team this year. I am saying there is little to no interest so far.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's back. There's also something about being on a roster week one or something guaranteeing the rest of the contract.

Blah blah aside here. Crosby has the resume. He doesn't have much to prove to anyone. He can be picky and choose the option he wants.

He does have something to prove. Everyone saw his diminished leg strength and it's detrimental effect on kickoffs last year.
He says it's because of a knee surgery last July and a subsequent struggle to regain leg strength.
Fair enough.
Prove it.
Bring him to Lambeau. Let's see you kick some field goals and kick offs. Show us how you are kicking it in and through the endzone on kickoffs. Show us a couple 50+ yard field goals

If you do, see you in two!

Week 2, that is, for the reason already stated by others.

We're offering vested vet 7+ year league minimum pay (I think around 1.15 mil)

Incentives beyond that.

This is where I'm at on this, which there are no indications that he would play for that.

But if he would...

The problem is that as soon as word gets out that they are bringing in Mason for a tryout, shit is going to hit the fan with fanbase, media, the confidence of our existing kicker, more questions (or at least some added ) about our ST coach and his strategy of no competition for the rookie, etc etc etc
So, Gute should call him up, explain my post to him 🤔 🙄 😳  and ask him if he can get the ball out of the endzone on a kickoff.

If he says yes, have him show us.

In other words,,

Prove it.

Otherwise, we dance with the kid that can apparently kick a 70 yarder or thereabouts, eyeball - guess- wise,  though willy-nilly starting from PAT range on back. 😕 -- I hear he's missing left instead of right these days...or the team does what I and half my fellow armchair GMs in here are going to do, which is freak out everytime this kid misses, and scour all the cut-downs from the teams that had the sense to host a legitimate kicking competition in camp.

I care more about FG's going through the uprights than I care about kicking the laces off the ball so it goes out of the end zone on said kickoffs. Besides, if the kicker can't make FG's, there won't be as many kickoffs anyway, haha.

If Packers can't re-sign Mason Crosby (signs elsewhere or maybe leg just lost it) I suspect the Packers to go for it a lot or punt it more whereas if they had Crosby (or a trustworthy kicker) they would kick FG. Since I went down this rabbit hole I'll add another node of decision. The quality of the defense will play a factor in that decision as well as the effectiveness as the offense.

Crosby is an Aaron Rodgers loyalist. We don't need that around the team. Time to turn the page.
