That just made me feel even worse about this season :(

It may just be me, but Most of those stats were not very positive.

Good find!

Clifton led in pressures allowed. He should quit now or at least have to compete for a starting spot next year. Then again, he wasn't responsible for many of our bad runs. Tauscher didn't give up much sacks, but was responsible for many pressures, probably because Tauscher is the RT therefore don't protecting A-Rod's blind side. I'm sure if Clifton was RT, there'd be less sacks for him. Tauscher sucked in run blocking.

I looked at the OL things multiple times, and all I have to say is there is no one guy to blame. Everyone needs to be better. Especially the aging OTs.

Edit: Forgot to say, this is a great article and topic. Thanks and +1

Damn people not using the title of the article as the title of the thread!!! :P

Edited the original post with the sexy format, cuz I didn't do that for nothing dammit!

Some awesome stats on that little article. Bet that took a pretty minute to compile.

While a lot of those stats were just noise, there were some gems in there. One thing that jumped out at me (and a few other posters above) was the play of Cullen Jenkins. He was an absolute monster for those first four games, and I recall Coach always talking about how he "graded out extremely high" after every game.

This leads me to believe that:

A) We will not be pursuing Peppers or Suggs. If the coaches feel Cullen was performing that well on the end, they're not going to move him inside - or I wouldn't think they would.

B) We won't be drafting a DE at #9. Tauscher is a FA and Clifton appeared to be the worst member on the line. We never know what Teddy will do, but at this point, my personal vote goes to Andre Smith, Michael Oher, Eugene Monroe, or Jason Smith.

We still need someone to take over KGB's old role of a pass rush specialist on passing downs when Jenkins moves inside. Also, Jenkins has been pretty injury prone these past two seasons, so it wouldn't hurt to get someone just incase. However, I do agree with you that we won't be pursuing a DE through free agency, but whether we draft one at #9 will depend on who is available.

Not to single you out because I've heard the Cullen-is-injury-prone argument before, but it just doesn't hold up. Outside of this year, he's only missed two games in four previous seasons.

You're right about replacing KGB's 3rd down pass rushing specialist position though. I just don't think that will be done with the 9th pick.

EDIT: How does an OT in the first round and George Selvie in the 2nd round specifically for that pass rush specialist sound?. There's a good chance that would be an option if we choose to go that route.

I'd like us to take Michael Johnson, DE, in the first round. Many draft guru's say he'll be a situational pass rusher type guy his first years, but when developed right he could turn into an every-down DE. Many compare him to last year's Justin Tuck, when he got over 10 sacks despite starting from the bench. There is also a big possibility that a great OT lands to our spot, with Eugene Monroe, Jason Smith and Michael Oher all being ranked in the top 10. I would be fine with anyone I mentioned here, but I'd still like Johnson best.
