I'm curious as to where this talk came from. It feels like one of those, "Team A needs a player at position B and player C is available, so let's put'em together" type of thing. If we were gonna pursue a veteran WR who can come in and still play, it wouldn't be a 33 year old coming off a major injury.

Sounds like Cardinals new GM wants to rebuild, and DeAndre Hopkins wants nothing to do with a rebuild and wants to win now.... and Cardinals new GM (whom has a background with the Patriots) is demanding players have no ego, and some suggest Hopkins has an ego, as he wants to compete with the best and compete to win NOW!

Also DeAndre Hopkins has a no trade clause in his contract, that he must waive that for any trade to happen.

I don't know that Hopkins has a wish list of teams he'd like to play for, but one local (Baltimore) media reporter was sure as hell strongly implying it... and implying that Baltimore with Lamar Jackson was on that list.

Other reports have implied Hopkins wants a better than average QB, as other than a few years with DeShaun Watson he supposively hasn't had one (reporters words, not Hopkins).

And Packers supposively need WRs, and have the QBs and are trying to win now, so it fits... plus for the gambling, you factor in hype as betters go more towards hype and Rodgers and needing WRs surely have hype (if you don't dive into the details too much).

But simply put, I think they're just trying combined Hopkins with a big named QB that needs WR help...

Gute has reportedly looked into those big time trades (including Texans WRs) in the past, but he's never pulled the trigger... though, he reportedly tried to pull the trigger with edge rusher Khalil Mack, but the Raiders wanted Kenny Clark instead of a 1st rounder and with straight up draft picks, preferred the Bears draft picks over the Packers.

I think the Packers barely have enough cap space to resign their own right now... and can't afford a $20 million cap hit for 2023. And Hopkins would want ridiculous amount of money in a new contract (because he's always gotten it and FA WRs got it last year)... so the only way to make it work would be to add additional fake years until the contract to backload the contract to 2025. And that's assuming they wanted to do it that way.

But Packers have so many backloaded contracts already, like we have I think $8 million in dead cap space just for Amos in 2023 and he's a FA... not a single penny of that is for him being signed.

Perhaps Aaron would take a paycut to chip in for a player like that.
