Yesterday Green Bay put the clamps on Justin Jefferson for 1 reception for 15 yards (along with 1 defensive griddy and 1 ref nearly taken out with a helmet slam). The young Vikings WR is already amassing stats and All-Pro nods that put him on a Hall Of Fame trajectory (barring a disasterous injury). Then I remembered that yesterday was New Years Day and if you're a student of Packers history, you know that New Years Day contains a special place in Packers history. Rewind the clock 29 years ago and you'll find Green Bay playing the Detroit Lions in the wild card round.

Fresh off the loss of Sterling Sharpe's neck injury that would force him into retirement, Green Bay had the task of stopping Barry Sanders who less than a month previous ran wild on Green Bays D in Green Bay with 188 yards rushing on 20 carries for 9.4 ypc and 1 TD. Wild Card game? 13 carries for -1.

All we need now is to play the Bears on New Years Day and shut down their offensive megastar and we'll have the trifecta!
