Why is it that when a WR/TE/RB from another team, make a catch or play. People are so quick to call our LB, CB and Safeties, Junk or no good. Yet expect our WR/TE/RB to do the same thing to the opponents defense.

Same on offense, when our Oline gets beat, they are again considered crap, but we expect Kampman and the rest of the Dline to run over the opponents Oline.

Now I love our team for the most part, but am smart enough to realize that other teams have players that are just as good or better than a lot of our team.

I think before calling for our players to get cut, or replaced. We should think about it. What if it was our Offense against our Defense. If Driver makes a catch against Harris. Does that mean that Harris is that bad or that Driver is that good or just that Driver made a play? If Kampman beat Tauscher and sacked Rodgers, does that mean Tauscher should have been benched or that Kampman just got the best of him that play.

At least that is how I like to look at things. When Steve Smith caught that deep pass against Woodson. I try to think, what if that was Jennings catching that deep ball. Tends to make me yell at our players less.

This is a great post.

If Packwillbeback wrote it the exact same thing though it would be crap.

I applaud you for this post, PackFanWithTwins. I've made this point many times. No matter how good your team is, other players WILL make plays on it.

During the game, I yell and scream and rail against our players in the chat room because it's fun. After the game is over and the emotions have cooled, I look at the situation with a more objective eye and I come to the same conclusions as you made in this post.

Great posts, I think we as fans tend to forget a little too quickly that the guys on the other teams get paid as well. 🙂

I agree with you, but you have to expect that any diehard fan wants their team to do everything right and the other team to do nothing right.

I'll admit, that's how I am.

with this season, the biggest factor was the timing IMO.

every defense is going to give up big plays during the course of a game. i think thats pretty normal. our defense was waiting until the final few minutes in the 4th quarter to give up a bunch of big plays and relinquish(sp?) the lead. they kept choking when it mattered most.

thats my take anyway...

I place this on the DC's shoulders... Time after time, we would play a soft defense to try and prevent the big play but all it did was fail.

EDIT: But back on topic, I have also noticed people quickly trashing p;ayers for giving up even small plays. During this past game, a certain poster would say "NICE AL" everytime he would allow a catch, most being catches no more than 4 yards.

I give you a lot of credit for thinking of this..The way I look at it is like this. I am not worried about Driver beating Harris, or Jennings beating Woodson. I am worried about Jennings and Driver stepping up and beating the best corners in the league, and I am worried about Harris and Woodson sticking to the best recievers in the league like glue. If they dont...Its not good enough for me. Or the coaching staff. Its just the way it is. If you want to win a superbowl.

I also think part of the problem is that we, as Packer fans, watch every single play of every Packer game and while we do watch other games as well probably not nearly as intently.

I have seen All-Pro OT's get beat and have horrible games but I don't see people suggesting his knees are bad and he needs to go.

If you watch other games closely you see very good players missing blocks or tackles and getting burned on passes just like what happens to our guys at times.

Our problem this year was simply not finishing games. We go 12-4 or 11-5 easy if we just finish but to listen to people here the coaches need to go, the schemes need to go, and half the players are crap.

We outplayed the Titans and Carolina both along with many others. How many changes do those teams make at the end of this year? My guess is not many. Certainly no whole-scale bailout cleansing like I see suggested here at times.

We need a COUPLE of players to help us do a a COUPLE of things better than we did this year. Sorry if that's not complicated enough for you.

This place reminds me of high school chemistry when they did the lab work on the frogs. EVERY SINGLE ORGAN of EVERY player and EVERY coach and EVERY scheme get's cut open and examined.

Put it all under a microscope for as long as you like. I take one look and see a team a hell of a lot closer to 11-5 than one that will repeat 6-10.
