It always sucks losing week 1. You wait over a half a year for football to start again, that anticipation building; you just want to see a win. It always sucks, more, to lose to a rival.

I'm not to worried though. Sloppy week 1 play becoming a trend aside, I seen this game as a lot of close factors that will improve going forward. Whether it be that Watson drop to start the game, the numerous close misses on sacks, or the obvious breakdown on communication in the secondary letting JJettas dance the ballroom on us, it will all get better.

I'm not worried, yet.

Quay Walker looks the part, man. Excited to see what he does as season goes on.

Christian Watson has remarkable physical attributes that show up on the field. I don't know if I've ever seen a Packers' WR get open so effortlessly like Watson did on the first snap on O. Devante Adams had some of the most crisp footwork, hips and route running around, but Watson has elite raw skills. If he can put things together, holy smokes will he be a match-up nightmare.

O-line depth. Once Jenkins and Bakh are back (assuming Bakh ever gets back and even somewhat close to his level before injury), our O-Line will be deep.

Special teams. Punter was solid, and no actual blunders. Held my breath every ST snap, but nothing bad happening is something I'll take.

Ja Island. My love for Jaire knows no bounds, and it was great seeing him back on the field full-go; I think he pretty much shut down his man (mostly Thielen) this game. Hearing reporters state Jaire told them he was begging coaches for the Jefferson match-up all week makes me so happy. Hopefully our defensive coaches can find more ways to take advantage of Ja's generational talent in shutting his side of the field down other than simply having him guard rubs / clear out routes.

I'm optimistic that our offense will work out the issues it has. It clearly can't rely on passing its way out of trouble; Lazard being back will help, Tonyan getting more targets will help, getting Aaron Jones more touches will help, and I have to think Watson and Doubs will improve through the season and build some rapport with Rodgers. I'm still choosing to be optimistic that even though it'll take time and almost certainly go against 12's instinct to sling it, he'll settle into a rhythm with what we have and find a way to make it work decently. Aaron Rodgers's is going to need a couple of months to get into a groove with what the players he has can do, but we did see flashes of some strengths this offense personnel is capable of despite the overall bad performance. Somewhat encouraging considering the pre-season was pretty much the Jordan Love dance.

Yes, I think they will improve. The rookie WRs will get better. The problem is, how long will it take for them to get up to speed?
And will we ever get our 2 best O-line guys back? I don't think Rodgers held onto the ball too long, like he did in seasons past. Whenever he dropped back, he had guys in his face before he could have a chance to find anyone open. And there was no Adams to depend on to run the right out and make a catch.
So it boils down to, will the Packers dig themselves into too deep if a hole to crawl out of to make the playoffs? By the time the new guys can really help, will they be so far behind the Vikings that they can't catch up?
Or will Aaron Rodgers get killed by his "lookout blockers" before the team can even have a shot at making the playoffs?
The Vikings look head and tails better then the Packers right now. They have a running start at winning the division.
I know, it's only one game. And if the Packers look great next week, I might not feel as "doom and gloom" as I do right now .
I just don't feel confident right now. A loss against the Bears next week would be devastating. That would put us 2 games lost in the division.
To me, that would be panic time.
I'll never not be a Packer fan. I survived the 1970s and 80s, so if I could make it through that, I can make it through this.šŸ˜

Maybe a couple times, but thatā€™s not true as a whole. I donā€™t believe there were open guys all over the place like you make it seem.

Cousins had all day most of the time to find someone to throw to, while Rodgers had to run for his life almost every play.

This 100000%. they showed several replays of our inept offense and he had guys wide open and went to someone who was covered or ready for a 2 yard drop off. Rodgers vision is horrible and i dunno how he can fix that.

We had guys open. It just feels like 12 wanted certain guys instead. I haven't watched the game a second time. So, I could be mistaken.

Again, being able to watch a game replay on a TV in leisure is a lot different then trying to find an open guy in 2 seconds while running for your life.
It's much easier to judge when you don't have anything to lose and have a full view of the field by a high up TV camera .
I hated in the past when Rodgers held the ball too long. I didn't see that in this game.
JMO of course.

The point is our WR were getting open. Rodgers will eventually trust them and hit them. The topic here is optimistic takeaway. We should be glad our WR are getting open, not be cynical about it. Rodgers admitted he had a bad game in his post game presser. It's week one. After watching many clips I'm excited for Watson and Doubs. Those kids can shake and bake!!

I think in the next four to six games we'll be hitting a good offensive stride. But who knows, Vikings could just suck ass at covering. šŸ¤· I'll stick with optimism though and be hopeful. That's just me.

This is a good clip. It almost looks like Rodgers is looking at Watkins and then checks it down. Of course, we cannot see his eyes so the facemask could be pointing a different direction.

The point i was making was that Rodgers did'nt have the time to find the open guy. He had guys in his face all game. It doesn't matter if guys are open at the point where the QB is getting smacked by the defense. Its too late for him to throw the ball if he's on his back on the ground.
Cousins for the most part had all day. He had time for the play to develope. Our O-line didn't give time for our QB to have the play develope.
By the time guys got open, the play was over. Add that to Rodgers having "happy feet" because he was getting harassed as soon as he got the snap, and you have a dissasterous game. No QB will be any good if he has NO protection.

packerfanoutwest (20h) : Feliz Navidad!
Zero2Cool (25-Dec) : Merry Christmas!
beast (25-Dec) : Merry Christmas šŸŽ„šŸŽ
beast (24-Dec) : Sounds like no serious injuries from the Saints game and Jacobs and Watson should play in the Vikings game
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : both games Watson missed, Packers won
Martha Careful (24-Dec) : I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Oh I know about Jacobs, I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to mimic Zero lol
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : Jacobs was just sat down, Watson re-injured that knee that kept him out 1 game earlier
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : I needed .14 that's. .14 points for the whole 4th quarter to win and go to the SB. Lol
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Jacobs gonna be OK???
Zero2Cool (24-Dec) : Watson gonna be OK???
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : Inactives tonight for the Pack: Alexander- knee Bullard - ankle Williams - quad Walker -ankle Monk Heath
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : No Jaire, but hopefully the front 7 destroys the line of scrimmage & forces Rattler into a few passes to McKinney.
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : minny could be #1 seed and the Lions #5 seed
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : We'd have same Division and Conference records. Strength of schedule we edge them
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I just checked. What tie breaker?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes its possible but unlikely. If we do get the 5th, we face the NFCS winner
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ahh, ok.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes due to tie breaker
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I mean, unlikely, yes, but mathematically, 5th is possible by what I'm reading.
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : If Vikings lose out, Packers win out, Packers get 5th, right?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : Minny isnt going to lose out so 5th seed is out of the equation. We are playing for the 6th or 7th seed which makes no difference
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, the ad revenue goes to the broadcast company but they gotta pay to air the game on their channel/network
beast (23-Dec) : If we win tonight the game is still relative in terms of 5th, 6th or 7th seed... win and it's 5th or 6th, lose and it's 6th or 7th
beast (23-Dec) : Mucky, I thought the ad revenue went to the broadcasting companies or the NFL, at least not directly
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I think the revenue share is moot, isn't it? That's the CBA an Salary Cap handling that.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : i mean game becomes irrelevant if we win tonight. Just a game where we are trying to play spoilers to Vikings chance at the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, I would guess ad revenue from more eyes watching tv
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I would think it would hurt the home team because people would have to cancel last minute maybe? i dunno
beast (23-Dec) : I agree that it's BS for fans planning on going to the game. But how does it bring in more money? I'm guessing indirectly?
packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : bs on flexing the game....they do it for the $$league$$, not the hometown fans
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I see what you did there Mucky
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : dammit. 3:25pm
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Packers Vikings flexed to 3:35pm
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : Upon receiving the news about Luke Musgrave, I immediately fell to the ground
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : Yeah baby!
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : LUKE MUSGRAVE PLAYING TONIGHT~!~~~~WOWHOAAOHAOAA yah
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (23-Dec) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (23-Dec) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (23-Dec) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (23-Dec) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
