I believe QB Love and TE Dugara are the only two of Gute's top 3 rounds selection outside of the SEC, Big 10 and ACC, as he often sticks to those.
So Gute going from only 15% from outside those three to 75% from those three would be a big surprise. That being said LaFleur had a Cincinnati connection with his talk of getting Duaga, which Pierce and Sanders are from.
That being said, I feel like Kiper is seriously reaching with these picks.
Reaching for WR Watson makes some sense as his potential seems to be unlimited and it's an extreme need position.
Johnson isn't a huge reach, but Gute has been all about positional value in the first round, and interior OL is not among the most valuable positions, especially when OT, Edge, CBs, S, WR/TE are still available. Plus all 100% of the OL Gute has selected so far, have been 6'4" to 6'5¼". I wouldn't be surprised if Gute went out of that range if someone is special enough, but just seems like Gute should be able to find someone in the 1st that fits what they look for more. And the Packers need more depth at OT more than OG.
If the Packers are demanding their new WRs be both tall and fast, then reaching for WR Alec Pierce could make sense, but I believe there are better WRs, but either maybe not as tall and fast, but they still have one of the two and more talented IMO.
Myjai Sanders is unorthodox in his style, which I believe makes him a higher chance to bust. I think there should be better options falling with how deep this edge rusher class looks.
Also, I think Safety will be selected higher than people think.
