LOL @ marino. always the bridesmaid, never the bride!!

but what i was trying to get at is we indeed have talent at some key positions & i'm damn proud of those guys. however, i expect major movement in the offseason to fill in the areas where we are in serious suckville or we'll be hard pressed to be over .500 next season.

i don't think w-l is the ONLY stat that matters at all. i'm proud of the individual players who have excelled - to completely discount them is just wrong.

+1 for this. I've said that several times. People who say that the W-L record is the only thing that matters aren't interested in actually analyzing things with any depth. It's facile to say that the final record is all that matters. Not EVERY team goes to the Superbowl every year.

So, are you saying that you'd rather have great stats than actually have a shot at winning a superbowl?

(I'm a big stats person, and a Rodgers supporter...but I'd rather have a superbowl than him throw for a huge amount of yardage and come up just short of the playoffs)

yeah, that's EXACTLY what we're sayin. 😉 of course not! but again to actually believe that the only things that matter are wins & losses, i think you're missing something. like the fact that we have a core set of excellent players...who worked their asses off ALL season...who WANT to win each game...try telling THEM that the only thing that matters are wins & losses - i think you'd get a bit of an argument.

I know that post wasn't meant for me, but I think we're somewhat on the same line here, just coming from different directions.

Stats, to a certain extend, show how good the players are and how they're playing. Jennings great avg, yac and receiving yardage, makes me feel quite good about the future at that position. Plus it ofcourse brings with it some bragging rights... especially comined with DD at a 1000 yards. Seems like we're good at that position for a while.

Wins, obviously, get us somewhere. We do indeed need good players to get us there. Like this season shows though, is that high stats on one place don't do use any good. Rodgers might have 4000 yards, Jennings has 1300 yards and Grant 1200, but we're still 6-10.

LOL - i know you're no troll. i've heard alot of players say those exact words also & i think they mean it - at the time. usually it's said after a team doesn't make the playoffs by a slim margin. however after retrospect, these guys have to be proud of their individual accomplishments & hope to push their teammates to strive for more as well.

Very good point...especially after they're already declared out of the playoffs. But I'd still rather have a chance at a superbowl victory than have a great season stats-wise. :rr:

What a preposterous thing to say. Of course not. Look, I'm just as disappointed as anyone that the Packers had a lousy season. I was one of the few people predicting a winning season for the Packers after the Favre trade.

On the other hand, I predicted that Rodgers would throw 30 TDs and 4000 yards. He ended up throwing 28 TDs, running for 4 more, and throwing over 4000 yards. I'm ecstatic he proved all his detractors utterly wrong.

What we're saying is we can be encouraged that so many players on our team played amazingly well, because it goes to show how razor-thin the margin between victory and defeat is in this league. Last year this team overachieved; this year it underachieved. We can be optimistic that we'll have a great season next year.

We didn't go to the playoffs the first few seasons with Favre either. If you don't make it to the playoffs, does it honestly matter whether you finish 6-10 or 9-7?

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
