What are the Prime Time rules for an NFL team? I once thought a team could only appear in five prime time games, this meaning Thursday, Sunday Night or Monday Night games. What if a team has five already, does that negate them from being flexed into an additional prime time game?

I've heard that, but I've never been able to determine if that was just rumor, word of mouth or factual.

I remember one year that Patriots were getting prime time games every single week and it was pissing Brady off and I was enjoying that it was pissing him off lol, I guess it messes with his sleep schedule, especially away trip prime time games.

My wild @$$ speculation, is that try to mix it up, but if there aren't good other options, and the tv people are really pushing them to do it, the NFL will do what the tv people want...

So I think the rules could apply to the NFL initial scheduling, and maybe not changes in said schemes. By that's my pure speculation, like I've said, I've heard of those rules, but I'm not sure I've ever heard that they're officially written down in some official rule book...

Which really doesn't matter because they NFL isn't following the rule book tightly anymore anyways... (PS, I've been saying that for weeks, I'm not bringing up anything with the WFT game with that comment... but that the refs seem to be trying to consistently follow what I assume the NFL telling them to follow, not nessarily the NFL rule book.

Packers place WR Malik Taylor on reserve/COVID-19 list on October 15th

Hope this isn't a coming trend. Vaccinated players get tested once a week.

From what I know, vaccine limits transmission and severity, it doesn't eliminate it purely.

Players don't like it. Coaches don't like it. Fans want everyone to get paid big money. Well, you need the TV cash for that. You can't have it both ways.

I tend not to watch Thursday games cuz I hate greed. Oh, and I'm old and need sleep.

So another Sunday noon game might not make that much more, as there is already a game there...

A Thursday game is a new time slot and more to sell, so it makes a good bit..

Though if you're asking about the difference amount amount between 3 PM Thursday, and Night game Thursday, I think that makes a good point.

Anyhooters, Thursday is maximum viewership just like Sunday Night and Monday Night. That's why it's called Prime Time (Duh, right? lol). The deal as I read it was $1 billion per year for 15 Thursday night games. That's about $31.25 million per team and about $2.1 million per team per game. However, I think the NFL and NFLPA split the money 55:45 so it's closer to a million per team.

I'm spitballing here but you get the idea. The NFL Owners wanted Thursday Night games, not the players. The players wanted more money and this is what I'm speculating the Owners offered up as means to getting more money. So, the Owners don't give a larger portion of the pie, they just created a larger pie.

I know high school gets Friday nights and college Saturday. But this is gold dammit. I don't care. Let's get ours and to hell with everyone else.

We know that itā€™s all about revenue!
What I have never been able to understand,is why they have never moved the Super Bowl to Saturday night.
That would seem like even more of a money machine.

A couple of points-
Most of their games are Saturday afternoon. Thus a Saturday evening game would not be much of a conflict. Many of the evening games are Left Coast games. While college is popular out there it's not the same religion as the South.
Secondly the population base of the South is small compared to the nation as a whole. NFL Inc could do some test trials and leave teams from the South out of the Saturday night mix. Someone in Alabama or Georgia isn't going to watch a game between KC and Denver anyway. Thursday, Saturday or Sunday.
