GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Brett Favre hopes Aaron Rodgers can win another Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers, but he's not optimistic that there will be another run given what he knows about the rift between Rodgers and the team.

In an appearance on ESPN Wisconsin radio's Wilde & Tausch, Favre on Wednesday detailed his text conversion with Rodgers and made comparisons to his own departure from the Packers in 2008.

But what was most striking was his prediction for how it will play out.

"Boy it's a good question; that's the million-dollar question," Favre said during a 45-minute interview on the show. "I think I know Aaron fairly well, and honestly I just don't see him coming back and just saying, 'All right, let's just bury the hatchet, whatever caused the rift, and I'm just going to come back and play because I love the guys, I love the Green Bay fans -- I assume he does -- but his rift isn't with the fans or the players. It's with the front office. Will he just swallow his pride and come in? Maybe. But I don't see that happening.

"If there's not a trade, my gut tells me that he'd rather sit out than play. That's just my gut. There's no reason for me to say that other than that's what my gut's telling me, and I think you guys know Aaron fairly well enough to sort of feel the same way."

I love this interview because it confirms what I was telling people since 2008 and none of you jokers would listen! Favre felt he was pressured into giving an answer and that is why he retired. It was also McCarthy that shredded shit, not Thompson. One of these days you puddle fart monkeys will understand I speak truth! 😎😋😛

So....Favre was pressured into making up his mind. So what? Were the Packers supposed to just wait until the season actually started for Favre to decide what he was going to do? Favre was playing that game for several seasons. "I will play, I won't play". So I dont blame the Packers one bit for wanting a decision from him.
As far as Rodgers being butt hurt, WHY? They had the best offense in football last year, and had the NFC title game at home. And yes, the D gave up points. But gave Rodgers chances in the 4th quarter. And it wasn't an insurmountable lead by Tampa.
So he had a chance to show he could win a big game, and failed miserably.
Even though it most likely means the end of the Packers having a shot at a SB, if Rodgers wants out, say "bubeye" to him.
Like was said, it seems he has no desire to "forgive and forget" any time he gets his feelings hurt. With ANYONE. My opinion is that he needs to grow up. His sole job was to QB the Green Bay Packers. Not be the GM or coach.
Again, its my opinion only.
I have no more info on what is really going on. I wish I did, as it would make this a lot easier to decide who the villian is.

As a Packers fan, nobody ever wants to see a legend leave the team before his time. BUT, he made his career with the Packers, he doesnt need to prove anything else, or have to continue with the Packers. If he truely wants to leave, then let him leave, void his contract, and set him free. If he should be injured in a game, and can not return, then he is no use to the team, and the back up QB will be in the starting position. His record will stand as it is with the Packers, and that is all it will ever be. Let him go and be over with it. The team will continue as best as it can with out him.

Then early March he announced his retirement. That pressuring for an answer is something the Packers front office (e.g. Mark Murphy) acknowledged was done and was a mistake. Numerous players have said since that it's easy to say you're done with football that soon after the season, but when June/July comes around, those feelings change.

One caveat here is many want to say the Packers pressured Favre into an answer because they knew he'd retire and they wanted to roll with Rodgers. This is FALSE. The Packers pressured him because they KNEW he'd commit to the 2008 season seeing as the team was 15 minutes away from a Super Bowl and they wanted to re-up and make a push the following year. Essentially, the Packers front office wanted this out of the way so they could lure free agents, etc.

It's funny when people talk about Favre waffling on retirement before 2008. It started post Super Bowl XXXI when he said he didn't know what to do now. That was turned into he wanted to retire. In Favre's words, he had "won two MVP's, a Super Bowl, what's next?" He basically felt he accomplished everything there was.

As for Aaron Rodgers, he's playing for Packers in 2021 and probably 2022. That is my feeling on the situation. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Jordan Love shipped out and Rodgers given a nice contract. Unfortunately, people will ignorantly say "oh so this was all about money the whole time" when it wasn't and isn't. It's about controlling his own fate. If you listened to him speak, if you listened to what he's said post Jordan Love pick -- it's plain as day. However, it's not sexy and people want ANGER they want RESENTMENT they want HATE because it's a form of self-handicapping their emotions.

I hate it, we all hate it, but tell him to give you a list of teams he'll accept a trade to and get something out of it. I don't care if it's just a 3rd round pick, get something.

We should all remember one thing that's important. The pick the Packers got for trading Brett Favre to the Jets was used to get Clay Matthews.

I don’t “hate” anyone. Not Rodgers, not the Packer brass.
I’m just plain frustrated.
I, or anyone else here, don’t know the REAL facts of this case. And that’s the most frustrating part of this. Neither side will come out and state their case.
So it’s maddening.

Yet, we still have people going well we don't really know -- even when the person who broke the story SAID the source was not Aaron Rodgers nor anyone in his camp. That's a fact and people still are choosing to ignore it. So yes we have facts, we have a lot, but we're all feeling a bit burned by this madness and reacting with our emotions instead of intellect. And witnessing this as the media just pounds his chest infuriates me. It's hurting the Packers and it's hurting Rodgers all so they can benefit financially.

Well that makes me a lot more optimistic... as usually Favre's gut has usually said one thing... and then later on he goes the completely opposite direction.

So the fact he doesn't think it's gonna happen is making me think it will happen!
