What would you do if you we're GM of packers to improve this team in the off season.

1st Move : Replace Bob Sanders ... I was thinking if we can offer a good offer to Ron Rivera (He might want to come back to nfc north to get revenge on the bears :whipitgood: ) or Romeo Crennel ... I know his team sucks but his days at defensive coordinator we're good (I heard rumors his getting fired) and his a good coach for the d-line i've heard.

2nd Move : Sign Julius Peppers

3rd Move : Draft OT / OG / DE / CB

4th Move : Give everyone at PH some of the extra cash in the cap room :thumbright:

5th Move : Re-sign Greg Jennings

* This our the major move's I'd do how about you guys?

McCarthy decides on coaches, not Thompson. Also, can't legally talk to Rivera since he is the DC of the Chargers. Only way the Packers can sign him is if he is fired by the Chargers (won't happen) or the Packers offer him their HC job (won't happen either).

1) Re-sign Greg Jennings and Nick Collins. It's imperative to sign two core players, and play makers already on your roster.

2) Go hard after Haynesworth or Suggs. Carolina has said already they'll Franchise Peppers if he isn't signed, but if in some way Peppers is a UFA, then I'd go after him too. Do anything and everything (pay them to the moon if necessary) to land one of the three in GB.

3) Draft guys for the lines (O and D). Do a lot of homework and pick out players that can immediately contribute something, and become something great in the future.

4) Try to find a SS through FA or the draft that can be the back-up to Bigby, and fill in solidly if called upon. (This means Rouse is moved to FS)

He can, but the Chargers have to give him permission to do so first. They can flat out deny him.

Either way, I might look towards hiring Dick Jauron, who is likely to be fired after the season. He was Packers' DB coach during the mid 90s, has a history with the NFC North division (Bears HC too), and has had a solid D during his time with the Bills.

Theoretically they could offer him a DC position and assistant HC, but I could only see that move with Nolan or Haslett - MM buds.

As GM, I'd encourage MM to consider a new OL Philosophy to make a power running game more effective in bad weather. I'd encourage him to strongly consider different options for ST and Def coordinators.

I'd pursue Julius Peppers or Haynesworth. Pursue a Vet OL (guard or tackle) or a vet CB.

Commit to the lines in the draft.

1. Get a pass-rushing DE.

2. Get an interior pass rusher.

3. Get an offensive tackle, or maybe two. Our vets may both be at the end of the line.

Those are far and away our biggest needs, as far as I'm concerned. I would like to see one or two big free agents signed, because there are only so many players in the draft who can make major contributions as rookies.

Tough luck KG, Williams is the DC for the Jags. Run into the same problems as you would with Williams.

Edit - Actually I was wrong, Williams only signed a one year contract. So either way, he is available for consideration for the DC.

Make getting Albert haynesworth #1 priority in free agency. I dont care if Ted Thompson needs to over pay or kiss his ass, whoever gets Haynesworth will get the biggest impact defensive free agent i can recall since Reggie White came here. Draft 2 o-lineman with both our first round draft picks, use our 2nd, 3rd & 4th draft picks to trade for another 1st rounder and draft either a linebacker, Defensive End or another O-lineman. What the hell do we need to draft 10 guys for. We have depth. We need impact players on this team. Thats right, tell some of these "depth guys" we have on the o-line "thank you but your services will no longer be needed" or "we're moving in another direction"

Get a vet backup qb in here asap and let brohm/flynn fight it out with the vet for a spot next training camp. We have the money, get it done. Fire the D-coordinator and get a D-coordinator that is gonna scare these defenders. A firey guy who is loud and demanding and respected. Someone the lazy paycheck players will be afraid of and the dedicated players will love. A Parcells, Singletary, Ditka kind of guy.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
