Less than three weeks until the Green Bay Packers hit the clock for the first time in the 2021 NFL Draft, let's take a look at areas they need to address at some point during the three-day event. After reaching consecutive NFC Championship Games but not quite having enough to go all the way, this

I felt like this article read my mind, with what we need to try to get down in the draft.

1) Improve CBs; especially since King, Sullivan and Jackson are all in contract years (Alexander has 5th year option)

2) Grab a new WR; the Packers top 5 WRs are all in contract years, and while extending Adams was hinted at, it was supposed to be done weeks ago and hasn't happened... and even if we resign him and keep Lazzard (who's an RFA), there is still the speed of MVS, which might not be cheap to resign.

3) OL; Jenkins verstility and OL depth covered up a lot of potential problems last year, but now they're without Linsley and Wagner at least and possibile Bak early on. At minimum, they need to restock the depth for the future.l and potential injuries.

4) DL; Clark needs some help, especially if we're playing more 3 DL on the field at the same time.

The problem starts with the headline. "Four things Packers must do in the 2021 NFL Draft" as it gives the impression the current year draft is for the current year. Anyone who has any understanding of NFL roster building knows how fool-hardy that is. The NFL media/talk is predictably cyclical.

Cynical comments aside, I wouldn't be surprised if the Packers find a starting OL in this upcoming draft. Maybe even strike it like it's 2000 and get two?!

The Packers will also need to draft a WR (or two) as I don't think they have under contract going into 2022.

To fill the defensive holes, they will have to find free agents for those rather than rely on rookies.

They need DL.

They'll grab a CB or two, DL, maybe a WR. I could see them taking a T, if they like a player that falls.

They need to grab a superstar type WR at some point. I like out guys, but none of them will be the team identity when Davante is done. MVS still needs to prove he can catch. I think Lazzard should be a TE, if he's that good of a blocker.

Don't forget Yosh Nijman at OT either. Lot of these question mark type guys. Can Barnes and Martin cover? Supposed to be required for this new defense.

Get somebody next to Kenny Clark. Go from there.

Also, so you want all offense in the draft even though the defense clearly needs more help?

And as I mentioned, lots of players either just left and/or are in their contract year... so it's not all abt now, but developing for the future when said player leaves.

Contract years

CB: Alexander (though 5th year option) King, Sullivan, Jackson

WR: Adams, Lazard (RFA), MVS, St. Brown, Funchess

OL: Patrick and just lost Linsley and Wagner

DL: Adams, and some lesser helpful vets, but this area was weak to start with

ILB: Burks and just lost Kirksey.

And Packers should be looking for quality defensive coverage in the draft, because it's the area they need most to improve on both currently and at CB in the future when some of those CBs are gone.

It's too late for free agents? Stop it. You know I'm not naïve. I said my opinion. Did I word it in a manner than doesn't make sense to you? Your response would suggest as such.

Edit, hell, I don't know. Maybe we'll get a OL starter and a defensive starter in the draft. I just don't see it happening.

Clearly most of the quality starting FAs have already been signed... expecting them to sign a couple of them at this point probably means your team is bad or you important injuries, that going to make your team quite questionable.

Mainly just the draft and UDFA left, other than a handful of guys...

Maybe they'll resign Lane Taylor or Tyler Ervin. At one point they reportedly had interest in a veteran backup Center or two.

I just don't buy into the mantra that the Packers are in such dire need of major upgrades as it has been inferred. I'm telling you. If we had OL depth, Packers would have been in and won the Super Bowl. And most of that starting roster is returning, minus of course the All-Pro (right?) Center. 😪 I would not at all be surprised if a day two OL pick is starting and kicks serious ass. I also think there's going to be a WR or two available that will make some splash plays. I also think Adams, Lazard and Valdes-Scantling are one helluva trio. I also think Robert Tonyan is in a system that fits him and his talents. I also think Aaron Jones is going to continue to ball out. I think Aaron Rodgers is going to show the world he can host Jeopardy and win a Super Bowl during the same year.

I've tried tuning out a lot of social media and such lately. It's been drowning with Mock Draft version 37.0 trash and dire negativity about the Green Bay Packers. It's like every one of the other 31 teams got immensely better while the Packers peaked out and are going to drop off a cliff and finish bottom quarter of the league and picking like top 10 in 2022 draft. It puzzles me.

So, if I come off sarcastic or cynical, I apologize. I just feel good about the Packers and I don't see why some (not here, but most other places) feel the need to have this tenacious "beat my team down" mentality. Shit, we are fans of the GREEN BAY MOTHER FUCKING PACKERS! We are gonna be in it in January and we just need some luck to come our way.

Martha Careful (17-Dec) : The Viking uniforms, the whiteout uniforms specifically absolutely suck
