Aaron Rodgers has been more than acceptable as a QB. He'll probably be an alternate for the Pro Bowl. Numbers wise he should go.

Is he Brett Favre? Nope, but the people expecting him to be Brett Favre were just putting those unrealistic expectations on the table just so they can complain about it when Rodgers doesn't end up being Brett Favre.

Teams don't stop the running game. The Packers don't run enough for teams to actually stop the running game. Teams control the clock by running the ball on the Packers.

I will say this. I agree with you on Favre, but I don't feel the Packers can't win with Rodgers. I think they can.

However at the end of the game when Rodgers has to march the Packers down the field, I really don't think he can do it. I haven't seen it and until I do, I'm going to be expecting that game ending INT. We saw it against Atlanta, Carolina, and Jacksonville.

With Favre, I always felt GB had a chance and really more so as he reached his prime though.

Hey, I appreciate you compiling these statistics. They look fairly impressive, I grant you that, but they fail to answer the important question: In how many of these drives were the Packers tied or behind? Remember, the Packers won several games by double-digit figures last year.

It turns out, as longtimefan discovered, that there were in fact only three such games. More to the point, in only one of these games did Favre make a substantive impact on the final score in those waning minutes (tossing a long bomb to Jennings in the Chargers game). This means that the other 3 TDs he piled up in garbage time.

In the interest of fairness, longtimefan did leave out the 82-yard bomb to Jennings against Denver, but that was in sudden-death overtime, so it's another situation.

The fact remains: in the waning minutes of close games last season, Favre was anything but spectacular. In the majority of games, he was playing from substantial leads by that time (remember, the Packers had something like a +126 scoring differential last year). It's not realistic to expect Rodgers to pull squeakers out of his ass in the last 2:00 game after game.

So please lay off the kid.

I don't know why everyone is harping on the fourth-quarter-comeback issue to begin with. Last year Favre hardly had to lead any fourth-quarter comebacks, because the Packers were a good team. This year Rodgers constantly finds himself having to run 2:00 drills. All that means is the team is mediocre to bad. You don't want your team to have to pull out last-minute victories game after game, because all that means is the team is bad.

We should be rooting for the Packers to be putting these games away in the first three quarters, rather than ragging on Rodgers for not pulling a magical turd from his ass every game.

Amen to that.

Rodgers was leading a great drive against Houston down the five to put that game away when the ref somehow made the mystery holding call against Moll. Now you can look at all the play-by-play crap you want to but the guy did his job there as is pointed out above.

I know of at least three games now where Rodgers led the Pack to score only to be given the ball on the 15 yard line with one time out and about a 1:30 on the clock. Gimme a break.
