Brayden Coombs special teams coordinator, was fired today for going "rogue" and calling a fake punt on fourth down in the fourth quarter against the Titans.
He did it without the blessing or knowledge of the acting head coach.
It failed and the slaughter was on.
This was reported in a "Sports Illustrated" article.

Also read that he was posturing quite a bit to get a promotion. This wasn't a simple isolated incident. It was more so done to show he's smarter than the interim head coach. That is why he was canned. At least, that's what I gathered from the stuff I read.

My first reaction is- Would he be an upgrade? According to Lineups.com Detroit is #7 overall. That sounds pretty good then I see they have GB at #9 so I know the list is bogus.

Part of the ranking is opponent FG attempts and made. Unless you block a FB there is not much the ST does to stop a kicker. How many attempts has nothing to do with ST either.

Detroit is opponent punt return. Yay! Unfortunately they are 29th in opponent KO return. Boo. I doubt he would be much of an upgrade.
