Back to the running game.. doesn't that speak volumes about Mike McCarthy makeup though.. he is a QB coach, do you really expect him to be patient with the run?

McCarthys playcalling is suspect as he appears to get locked in to playing to the QB and damn the balanced attack.

I have no problem with throwing the ball either, but you also have to run the ball and control the clock.
You can't expect to line up in the shotgun so much that the opponent can just tee off on the QB.

Want a name that may be interesting after the season.. Wade Phillips.

Straight shooter.. very sound DC.. and I think he will be looking for work come Feb.

He is a 3-4 coach.. which is a little different roster wise and has natural liabilities within the scheme.. but we have to retool the roster at this point anyway..

I don't think there is anyway Wade survives the offseason...

He would bring a good measure of experience and seems like a natural fit in terms of blending into this coaching staff.

Bates would have to agree to come back here.. he felt wronged by the decision of not getting the head job, which he had a right to do.. Bates had shown the ability in Miami and made salad out of a few blades of grass and a dandelion or two on defense here.

I don't think Bates would come back.. My opinion.

Now don't get to thinking I think Bates should have been our coach.. not saying that, but via his eyes he had a chance to stay and decided it didn't feel right.

also remember that this is Bates scheme we are currently running... just under the direction of Sanders. Bates would surely know how to deal with it better as its his scheme, but I think if we are going to make a move we need to make it a sweeping change and bring in fresh ideas. IMO.
