I don't care much about the 17 game one way or the other, I'm more interested in how it's going to be used... lasted rumor was that it'd be an extra AFC vs NFC game matching up the seeding in the division... so since the Packers were the division winner, they would face an AFC division winner.
As far as the extra team in the playoffs, I think that's stupid.... as almost 44% of all teams are going to be in the playoffs now, that's ridiculously high, and there are already teams in the playoffs that have zero shot at actually winning everything already every year.
Plus, right now playoff teams have to fight for positioning between possible getting a bye with #2 seed, to barely making it with the last playoff spot at #6, if a team (such as the Vikings last year) CNA basically lock themselves into one of those four spots, they don't have to even try to win the last couple of weeks.
Now, instead of 4 spots with #2 and #6, it'd now be 6 spots with #1 and #7... and I think we will see more playoff teams rest their top and most important starters the last couple of weeks as they don't care which seed they get, as long they're in and don't have a shot at the bye week, just give them any seed (maybe any home seed, but still not as big of a deal as a bye week, and still there are more of them, so the same idea is still there).
