The Packers' defense took a big leap forward this season, only to be destroyed in the NFC Championship

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur did not say he was going to fire defensive coordinator Mike Pettine after Sunday’s debacle in the NFC Championship Game.

But he wouldn’t commit to keeping him, either.

I'm kinda shocked... yeah they played horrible against the 49ers, but they played pretty great for most of the season considering they're lacking at CB and ILB (and CB has been considered the second more important position on teams behind only QBs by some).

Either way they need to upgrade CB, ILB and maybe the DT position upside of a few.

I am not surprised because there have been vast improvement over the Capers era.

That does not excuse, his lack of meaningful adjustments in the SF game.

I know this will not be a popular sentiment, but MLF needs to learn to say to him "Mike, I don't a damn what you thought you were going to do...it ain't working....stop the frigging run by blitzing and let our db's go man, if we lose, I will take the blame."

If he is kept, LaFleur owns the decision, i.e. he can't use the "he was hear and I was pressured to take him argument." But going forward, he owns it either way.

LaFleur and Rodgers was much slower to adjust than Pettine.

He didn't believe in the DB to hold up in man coverage... he's been right most of the year and lead us to a great record... so get me some better CBs now!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. He needed to make a change. He didn't.

That doesn't mean he should be fired. It means he needs to coach better.

It also doesn't mean that we shouldn't get better CB's. IMO we need better IDLs more than we need CBs.

Not really, but he should take that advice as well. If you have a good staff you exchange ideas and listen.

However, the lead dog is the one who owns ALL the issue as well as his assistants.
