To be fair, nobody remembers the last time we drafted a WR with a first-round grade. The last time we actually drafted in the first round at all was Javon Walker, and Mike Sherman did that.
Heck, the last time I remember a rookie WR making an immediate impact on the offense was Randall Cobb and Greg Jennings before that. Jones, Nelson, and Adams all scrapped their way up from the bottom of the totem pole--though in Thompson's day, if we drafted you, you were basically a shoo-in to make the team.
Going back to Metcalf, the main reason I didn't like him was because he simply seemed like a workout warrior. Vernon Davis, even at TE, was comparable and he was injury prone his first few years. I thought Metcalf would turn out the same way.
Going back to him being an X-Factor in Seattle, yep, I believe it. But I also think he's somebody Kevin King can handle, because of them fell in the draft for the exact same reasons.
