My neighborhood got dug up this past summer. At the time, they came door-to-door and offered a sweet deal to switch. I told my CO about it, she said, (exact quote) "You're Crazy."
Thanksgiving and last night over at my brother-in-laws house. My sister-in-law works for the local gov't and got a call from the Verizon people wanting a permit to do the door-to-door thing (adjacent jurisdiction). She asked him about the deal, yada, yada yada. They switched to it. $99.00 a month for the next two years w/ HDTV (next three months w/upgrade package, everything except the porn and PPV), channels go to over channel 1800 and something (gaps, of course, but a hell of a lot of channels), before they said they had switched, I had already noticed that the picture had seemed better (than Comcast digital) Also get one DVR that you can watch on ?3? different locations, record on one, also get FIOS internet, also get phone. I have Verizon phone, comcast crappy version cable TV, and Comcast internet (cable).
I also noticed that the FIOS internet was faster than my cable internet.
We are paying about 180. bucks a month for present configuration. My wife had the friggin' GALL to ask me why we didn't do the switch... I had to remind her what she had said this past summer...but that's another story.
My question is this. My sister-in-law is going to call the Verizon honcho and see if I can get the same deal as they got. I'm wondering if they got a sweetheart deal, or is that the current deal out there. It is complicated, because not only is she in charge of crap like who gets to go door-to-door, but my brother-in-law is the former chief of police in the jurisdiction, and the Verizon guy thought he was the current one...he mentioned this...
Anybody w/ Verizon FIOS---bundled---What are you paying, and what are you getting?
