Ted Thompson acknowledged he avoided Wisconsin Badgers because he felt the pressure was too much. Thompson was right, at least with Biegel -- someone he drafted anyway.

Biegel says being released by the Green Bay Packers -- the team that selected him in the fourth round of the 2017 draft -- was the best thing for his career. As a kid who was from Wisconsin and who attended the University of Wisconsin, Biegel put too much pressure on himself playing for his hometown NFL team.

"A weight was lifted off my shoulder," Biegel said about being cut by Green Bay in September 2018 and then signed by New Orleans. "I got back to the purity of playing football."

I know it is frustrating to Badger fans and people in WI in general but there is a lot of truth in it. It's a little different when players live in larger cities. Not so much in the Green Bay megalopolis. There really isn't anywhere to go to get away.

Let me tell you what: I grew up in cranberry country, and if you want to become a millionaire by the age of 25 but don't have the talent or wherewithal to play professional sports, there aren't many better or surer ways to get there than owning a cranberry farm. The lifestyle is hell—the bogs require year-round care, and you never get to take a vacation—but the money is amazing.
