This is a great topic.
I think the NCAA has really abused a lot of these kids and has ignored the needs of financially needy kids. We want them to assimilate with the student population.
There are abuses on both sides...from Connie Hawkins being paid $30k, year to keep seaweed off the football field on one side...to not allowing the kids to have summer jobs which is currently the situation for scholarship athletes.
I know the arguments, if I am a poor kid, I get a scholarship for room board, tuition, etc. However:

What about transportation to and from school? Overall and for breaks weekends etc. What about pocket money? Buying a pizza, going on a date. Are they supposed to just sit in the dorm and not socialize?[*]Clothing, do you want them to wear team sweats all around campus?[*]And if the kid gets hurt, can we make sure he keeps his scholarship? [/list]I am suggesting, for "DI positive" revenue sports, how about $250 a month. And how about They let the kids make some money over the summer?I am not sure why Richard Sherman has such a grudge against the NCAA. He received a Stanford education for free. However, I think he is a bright guy and I would like to hear his rationale.
