We've had two consecutive days of flash-flood warnings, not to mention a couple of tornado warnings in the past month. So when I heard another thunderstorm rolling in early this morning, I didn't think anything of it. Turns out it wasn't a thunderstorm at all—it was a series of massive explosions at a nearby refinery! Quite the spectacle. No significant injuries, thankfully, and apparently, no environmental contamination of note. The fire appears to have been burning hot enough to ensure essentially complete combustion, so it was just a bunch of water vapor and carbon dioxide being released.
