Clark is now under contract through 2020. What was assumed is now official: Kenny Clark  will be a member of the Green Bay Packers  for at least two more seasons.
The Packers officially exercised their team option on Clark  for a fifth season, according to a report from ESPN’s Field Yates  early Tuesday morning. This comes a few days after general manager Brian Gutekunst indicated that he planned to execute this move . This provision is available to the Packers under the current collective bargaining agreement because Clark was a first-round draft pick. The team selected him 27th overall in 2016 out of UCLA.
Clark emerged as a dominant force on the Packers’ line late in 2017, with 4.5 sacks over the final five games of the season. He then sustained that excellent play in 2018, recording six sacks with a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. He was named as an alternate on the NFC Pro Bowl  team this season as well.
Because Clark was selected outside the top ten picks, the salary for the option year in 2020 is equal to the average of the third- through the 25th-highest salaries at the player’s position in 2019. Top-ten picks’ option salaries are equal to the transition tag amount for players at their position. Teams have until May 3rd to exercise these options.
At present, the Packers’ other star defensive lineman, Mike Daniels , has a contract due to expire at the end of the 2019 season, as does the other current projected starter, Dean Lowry.  Also in the mix for more playing time are Montravius Adams, Tyler Lancaster, and Kingsley Keke, the latter having just been selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Hopefully we sign him long term. I’d also like to see Daniels re-signed.

No brainer.

My interest next in players like Clark, Daniels and Bakhtiari... Does Gute and company look to lock them up early and be successful at doing so.

Truly think we need a blend of Teddy's approach with FA sprinkled in a bit more... can Gute accomplish that.

Daniels has to make the team first. We could also trade our star QB and his enormo contract. Probably wait and see if we can get some rings with him first.

Mike got his way last year. Now Aaron got his. Let's see what he can do.
