The real question is what is the list of free-agent wide receivers who are better than Randall Cobb?

I also don't think a lot of people have problems with Cobb as a player... But more because of the ridiculous money he's getting for being an above average slot receiver. He's the number 8 wide receiver in the whole NFL in cap hit and the number 18 WR in cash this year.

The man's been robbing us these last couple of years.

More on topic, if he comes back for a decent salary I'd like to keep Cobb as a slot/3rd guy. It's just that we need a better nr. 2 alongside Adams, but I think that might be better adressed with an early draft pick, rather than paying top dollar for a decent WR or going through the bargain bin.

A guy like Allen Robinson got signed to a $ 42 million contract over 3 years, Watkins got even more... $ 48 million over 3 years. Those are some decent number 2s, but I can't imagine we'd be in the market for them with those prices and our cap situation.

The only one I could really see as an option is John Brown. Barring the 2015 season, he's been stuck with horrible passers and injury issues. Those last haven't bothered him a bit less this year, which is a good sign. That one season he did have some decent passing-play and a good team, he went over a 1.000 yards and had 65 catches. I just don't know what his value will be this off-season, though. He signed a 1-year $5 million deal last year. If it's around those same numbers, again, he'd be a decent option.

Here's another list.
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/wide-receiver/

I want to say we should find someone who is this or that, but I don't know if the offensive scheme changes that. Things I'd look for someone who has a good first step who can shed initial press contact, someone who can run tight routes, someone who can catch (duh) and someone who has a little wiggle to them. Also, someone under 26 or if older, comes very cheap.

I'd be fine with Randall Cobb returning on a 3 year $15 million deal or something like that. Incentive based contract with the main factor being games healthy enough to play.

Between the fact that Kumerow couldn't get a roster spot on both the Bengals and Patriots, him being 26 years, not showing anything in his (very limited) real snaps and having some pedestrian Pro Day numbers (which usually turn out better than Combine), I'm not seeing why he'd solve any problems.

And even if he does turn out great, I wouldn't want to take the gamble.

That said, I hope that they'll try to find out what he can really bring in these last two games.
