They don't need to be replaced. They just need to get a breather.

Last season, Williams started in place of Jolly, but Jolly still made an impact off the bench. When Jolly hit IR, we no longer had a pass rush.

The main theme, as I keep stating, is the fact that we had a lot of depth at DT. There was Pickett, Williams, Jolly, Cole, Muir, and Harrell. Williams was traded, Muir didn't make the team, and Harrell is still trying to find a groove.

That's two down. We need more. Add the fact that Jenkins can play both DE and DT. That's like two players right there. So four. That's an entire set of linemen missing to help provide pressure.

It's pretty obvious to see what we need going into the off-season.

I think our starting tackles are ok, but there is no one to back them up.
Harrell totaly sucks.
I'm hoping that there is some defensive line help brought in via freeagency but with Thompson at the helm I don't see it happening.

Their both good, we don't need any upgrades but we need to draft a couple of em for future injuries / breathers and even probably one of them leaving ...

What is up with the whole yooper thing? I think my dad was embarassed to explain it. Am I wrong on this?

I'm not quite sure I undestand what you are sayin here, doesn't make much sense to me but if you are talking about the weather, you haven't got a clue what winter is about until you have lived theough a U.P. winter.
And Harrell still sucks.
And Thompson still will not delve into freeagency.
So he got pickett and Woodson a few years ago, time doesn't stand still.

I agree the likely hood of Thompson going big in free agency is very slim, but to offer possibly some hope. Thompson's job is on the line next year. If the Packers miss the playoffs again next year then he's out of Green Bay in my opinion. He'll have pressure on him to win next year and that could be enough to get him to look into free agency and make some moves.

All this is assuming we don't make the playoffs this year.

You can't replace 7 sacks from a DT just like that.

Corey Williams was so much more important than I (and many others) gave him credit for.

Zombieslayer was right when he said the loss of Williams would be felt dearly. You've got Colin Cole and Justin Harrell as your DT pass-rushers. That's pathetic.

We need a pass rushing DT. If Harrell stays healthy, our run game should improve by virtue of Pickett / Jolly / Harrell forming a solid trio of run stuffers.

You're pretty into the college football stuff, and scouting stuff porky, any ideas on if this draft has some pass-rushing DEs that could contribute immediately?

Mel Kipper has said this year's draft will have its strength being pass-rushing, and that's only with a projection of all seniors and no juniors coming out.

Only problem is that rarely do pass-rushers come out and have immediate impacts. Any stand out at you in college, Porky?

Michael Johnson of Georgia Tech already tops my wish list. He's 6'7" 260 to 270 range and he's quick. ESPN doesn't rate him as high as I do, but I think he'll be great.

Greg Hardy, Everette Brown, Jerry Hughes, and scouts love Brian Orakpo. Orakpo could be the next Demarcus Ware like player. I think a 3-4 team will take him and convert him to OLB, but a 4-3 team who needs a pass rusher could take him too.

Tyson Jackson of LSU also could be a good inside pass rusher too and we also need that.
