In a bizarrely shittily written article, NFL.com has the compensation as a sixth-round pick as well. Hell of a comedown for a player drafted in the fifth round.

It's a little concerning to me that the only quarterback on this roster besides Rodgers with any experience is a second-year player who lead the league in interceptions last year. I don't know what Kizer showed this preseason to beat out Hundley. Maybe he just won on potential alone. His ceiling is theoretically higher than Hundley's, and potential does seem to command a high price in this league.

In any case, for what it's worth, the Packers have managed to upgrade their backup quarterback position from a fifth-round pick to a second-round pick for a relatively minimal price. Hopefully it will never matter!

He no longer has the pressure of resurrecting a sunken downtrodden franchise and instead is with a solid franchise with an elite QB to learn from.

Sure, you can argue so did Hundley and it didn't do him shit.

Well I better pipe in here ...

I definitely did not become a hundley supporter last year; as a matter of fact I cringed every game he played in.

Anyways ... moving on to this preseason. He actually played pretty decently; and I would go so far as to say better then Kizer ... although again I still did not want us to keep him (hundley).

Again Hundley did decently in all 3 preseason games he played. If I didnt know how he did last year or the fact that when he got some pressure put on him he would flop - I would of said we have a decent back up (besides the gum chewing).
But ya I know those above things about him so ya wanted him gone; and am glad we let him go. I liked Kizers attitude also in the NFL.com comment about learning from one of the best for awhile.

My reservation is we got a 6th for hundley after training him up for 3 years and spending a 5th on him? Really? Not even a decent linebacker or something for him.

I really was hoping for something better then a 6th - but glad we got something then just letting him go; would of been bummed if MM decided to keep him on. Too bad we 'wasted all that' preseason time training him up again and not giving Kizer more practice time. I mean we only got a 6th for hundley so was/is it worth it to lose out on kizer practice - perhaps it pushed him more (rambling) ...

So we cant sneak Boyle onto the practice squard?

Don't give up! I'll help you!

How much better did Hundley look in his fourth year with the same team than Kizer did in his 2nd year with 2 different teams? Yep. That's how I explain it.

I am wondering if Hundley looked good in the preseason due to scripted plays at the beginning of the game. It seemed he started off well just like many of the games he played in when the plays were scripted. Once off script the "deer in headlight" QB came out. His pocket awareness is not as good as Kizer's. Give Kizer some more reps and I have to believe he would perform at least to what Hundley was going to give us. Make no mistake if Rodgers goes down for a significant amount of time we are toast no matter what backup we keep.

YES!!! GET RID OF MEDIOCRITY!! The Packers have been plagued with mediocrity for too long. Hundley proved that he is an inadequate starting QB and probably an inadequate backup QB. At some point, a team has to cut its losses and move on, especially if they can get some type of compensation for him.

Hundley may develop into a serviceable backup QB yet, but frankly, I'm glad he's the Seahawks problem now.

By contrast, Kizer only produced 2,894 yards (6.1 ypa) and 11 touchdowns last year -- leading the league in picks despite only playing 15 games. Similarly, Kizer's passer rating was an appalling 60.5, which is significantly worse than Manning's not-exactly-stellar rookie rating of 71.2. I'm not saying Kizer is destined for failure, but I wouldn't put him in the same league as Manning either.

Then again, Manning is my all-time favorite quarterback, so come at me, bro.

A 7th would have been a slap in the face. A 6th at least shows some respect. Breaking even would have been ideal but this is the next best case scenario. Depending on how Kizer and Boyle develop, perhaps an even better trade looms in the future.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaireā€™s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately

Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
