I'm not sure if this thread was already started since I just finsihed watching the game monday morning (UK time). If so add my comment to it.
So Great to see the packers again. Actually looking forward to this season; considering what happened last season.
I'm just going to go down the list on what I saw liked or disliked.
Quarterbacks - to be honest All 3 played good, not great and all seemed to have their strengths and weaknesses. I hate to say hundley played good after last season but; ya he played decently. He seemed to know the plays much better and have a better understanding of the offense - last year he just did not. I still dont like his style. Anyways; Keizer played well also; you can tell his strength is to run the ball when nothing is open - good and bad. Because you tend to do that more then do what you need to do. And Boyle almost threw that pick there but he actually played quite well too. It would be tough to decide right now on whom to pick as a backup. I'm rooting for Keizer - just because he is a tall dude and we traded for him but would need to see more from him.
Hundley - better understand of the offense
Keizer - Can run and escape better but still can play QB.
Boyle - Kind of a mix of the above 2.
Well we have 3 more games to see.
Running backs - Williams just looked good, Judd the last guy also stood out also; although I would need to see more tape.
WRs - We really had a showcase tonite of the different ones. Scantling I really like this guy. Kumerow (spelling) - I've only see him in this game and sure he had that one 50 yard TD; but I'm not convinced; would need to see more.
Was so many new receivers out there I lost track; was it Moore whom missed a catch or 2 just off his hands? I think I remember EQ pulling a nice catch and run also. I'd have to watch the game and get the book out if I really wanted to remember all of them. Good thing is I dont think any did a bad job.
#37 forgot his name a CB? he played really nicely.
I think this game really showcased the QBs and recievers and RBs. Nice look at them all.
oh Rollins - had some 'decent' plays and you can tell he knew his assignments better then others but still saw a few mistakes that didnt make me feel that great.
Ty Mont - lets go back ... I really didnt want him as a RB when they moved him. He was/is built like a muscular cobb and played WR really well IMO. As a RB IMO I dont think he will do that well and to me I'd rather have him catch the ball and run then be gang tackled over and over. We didnt see anything today with him just a few low yard runs. IMO this is a guy that isnt being used how he should be. Scat back, slot guy, something just not a strict RB.
I also enjoyed James Lofton's commentary - I remember getting his autograph at regency mall in racine WI when I was a kid.
Summary - great tape on the back up QBs and all the new WRs; got to see some nice RB action. Dont see Williams losing his RB spot after the nice showing. Scantling has my nod for the new WRs at least in this game.
