When asked if it was possible that the position wouldn't be filled:

That's really kind of a day to day, ongoing. It's something our personnel department looks at and basing the decision on the right person or right fit.

THEY BETTER FILL IT!

Since Dr. McKenzie did the surgery and said it was successful and that hopefully he would be ready for next year, I'm thinking he is done for this year.

He is definitely done for the year. He's on injured reserve.

However, that does leave an empty roster spot and I have been anxious to see who takes it. Maybe Thompson is out searching practice squads and such trying to find a gem?

Let's hope so!

From what I've heard, by the time it gets this late in the season, the game-day roster is pretty much set, so it doesn't matter much if all 53 roster spots are not filled. If necessary, they can always promote a player from the practice squad. So I think they'll only fill that last spot if they find someone who at least has a chance of getting on the field this season, or is a good prospect for next year. The quality of personnel available on the waiver wire gets lower and lower as the season goes on, as more and more of the marginal players are signed to fill roster spots due to injuries.

Here is a few suggestions.. that could probably make a game day roster and help us out as well..

Ed Johnson.. played well with the Colts.. character risk.

Jimmy Kennedy.. high pick.. not overly productive but not horrible either.

Anthony Maddox.. 2 sacks each of the past 2 years at DT..

Micheal Myers.. older but 15.5 career sacks from the DT.

Greg Spires.. Veteran DE.. solid, not spectacular, overall game but aged.

Larry Tripplett.. can slide up and down the line.. done it his whole career.

Marcus Tubbs.. Injuried.. unsure if he is ready to go.. but at least bring him in for a look.. could be a long term help if he can give you anything this season.. was very solid for the seachickens.

Ed Johnson.

What was it?

Pot, alcohol and speeding, with a history.

Busted and summarily released by the Colts.

I'm surprised you put him on your list, Pack.

Me? Well, I'm only highly judgemental when they are on my opponent's team...

I still say Johnny just had a REAL....BAD.....COUGH.... that night...

(You know I'm kidding if you have read my posts on that issue)

Talent and future-wise....ON THE FIELD.... He would be my pick...but that is a toughy, there...character-wise.

Completely agreed.. does it make long term sense.. questionable.. but short term, as the remainder of this season as a trial?

Possibly, depending on an interview and some back ground checks to see if it is a life issue or a incident type issue. From what I have read.. more of a lifestyle issue.. but do your homework anyway.

I remember once upon a time.. oh the 1996 season to be exact, that we took a flyer on a troubled soul that plugged a massive hole. Andre Rison.

Again.. I don't want to become a team like the Cowpokes.. but take a look anyway. Maybe they have.. and it just isn't public.

Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.
beast (4-May) : In theory, the S2 test how quickly a QBs brain can solve game like issues and how quickly they can do it.
dfosterf (4-May) : Are you gentlemen and at least one lady familiar with the S2 cognition
Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.
