Packers' GM search: Don't dimiss Reggie McKenzie as canidate

McKenzie’s job description, on the other hand, could be more fluid. He’s the Oakland Raiders’ GM with all the power that implies. But Raiders owner Mark Davis’ hiring of Jon Gruden as coach appears to be all but a done deal, and the thinking is, the Raiders probably had to give Gruden total control over football to entice him from the TV booth.

If that’s indeed the case, McKenzie would be GM in name only. He very well might be able to move on without the Raiders’ consent.

It is stupid to give gruden full control. Overrated. It is even stupider to do it of it costs you Reggie. He has rebuilt that team. It is insane to push him aside for a guy like gruden. If we're going to go external, I can't think of a guy I would like to have more than Reggie.

He's awkward and not a great communicator much like Ted, so he might fit in just fine here. If he can do the job well, I don't care about the rest, but Oakland just came off a year where they badly underperformed and their D is as bad as ours especially in the secondary.

I'm with my man Cheesey...this GM "search" is a ruse. Maybe, he gets interviewed to fulfill the Rooney Rule that Barfarn is so worried about, but I highly doubt it'll be him.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."
