Jones is much quicker/faster than Jamaal. Aaron doesn't have long speed. He's quicker/faster in shorter areas. I haven't looked at the 10yd and 20yd split but I would gather Jones holds a nice advantage there. Plus, on tape, he just looks faster/quicker. More sudden for sure. Jamaal is better for 4th and 1, although, I've always kinda hated the idea that you just give the ball to a bigger stronger guy just because he's bigger and stronger. Lions failed for years on Barry Sanders, taking him out when they were close. A great RB can find holes and make the yard you need with cunning and guile and skill where the bull back just plunges straight ahead whether that's the best route, or not.
Aaron is a little guy, but he's tough. Williams is good size...maybe, a little too tall. 3 cone really shows their ability to shift. Williams is a straight line plodder whose heart has really impressed me the last few games. He just wants it more. Love that. Ripkowski has that same thing...just drags guys. Jones is the electricity. He makes people miss and has a feel for the position few do. LeVeon has that feel, Jones has that feel... very excited for 33 as he learns to pass block and some of the finer points he didn't get at UTEP. Williams is unexciting but when your will is that strong that's usable and valuable. I want a guy who wants it more late in the game when everyone is tired. He wants to run through you more than the other guy wants to stop him. Love it. Too bad he isn't a little more gifted athletically.
Two young guys... growing with an aging QB. Hoping we can get some young WR talent to do similar things with next season like Michael Clark and... ?? We need our JuJu Smith Schuster...and a TE!
Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."
