Packer great dies
Bob Jeter, a Pro Bowl defensive back on the Packers Glory Years teams in the 1960s, died Thursday.
The 71-year-old Jeter suffered an apparent heart attack at his home in Chicago.
He started playing for the Packers in 1963 after he was a receiver in Canada. He played eight seasons in Green Bay, teaming up with corner Herb Adderley to help win three NFL championships.
Jeter finished his career in Chicago for three years. He ended up with 26 interceptions for 333 yards and two touchdowns.
After retiring, he was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame. Jeters son Rob is the mens basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He left the Panthers Thursday to be with his family.
