From Mike Freeman at BleacherReport.com:

Aaron Rodgers, for years, has covered up massive holes on the Packers roster: A flawed offensive line. A lack of top-notch running backs. A ho-hum defense. Poor drafts and free-agent decisions.

For years, Rodgers has covered all of these shortcomings.

Now, he's gone, and the Packers have little to cushion the blow.

How badly did they miss him last week? The leading receiver for Green Bay in a loss to New Orleans was tight end Martellus Bennett, who had two catches for 17 yards and no touchdowns.

This is what life without Rodgers will be like while he heals from a broken collarbone—all of the flaws exposed, ugly on both sides of the ball.

--- What I find interesting is Freeman was a Ted defender in the past. What this shows you is when you're winning it's all positive...when you're losing it's all negative. What happens when you lose and negativity comes out those who loved living in positivity have grown so accustomed to it they balk at negative talk and immediately point to past good times. Their level of confidence in things returning positive is extremely high and will mock negative talk.

Here's the rub...The WHY of winning or losing is never truly deconstructed. So it matters not if talk is positive or negative it only truly matters is the why. Why= Aaron Rodgers...always has, but MM, Ted Thompson and others ride his coattails receiving accolades undeserved that should be solely reserved for 12.

I'd love to see Hundley win enough to make a hypothetical Rodgers return matter, but I also wouldn't mind seeing us go oh for the rest of the season if we can blow out Ted and Mike and start with some fresh ideas and passion that has been sorely lacking.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

I don't invest any of my "Packer time" with blinders on like sooooo many Packer fans do. Not living in Wisconsin( born in Green Bay), I look at the team different. Many of you are happy enough to just make the playoffs. There should have been more trips to the SB during Ted Thompson and MM's tenure. MM should have been fired after the loss to Seattle in the NFC Championship game. That being said, how many busts on the dline and linebacking corps is it going to take before the GM takes some heat? A few of the secondary players worth a damn are now playing for other teams too. Capers has to take some blame, but it should not all fall at his feet. We have pathetic first round draft choices on defense. Most of them will be gone after their first contract.

Also, without a Farve or Rodgers to bail him out, McCarthy is just a pedestrian coach who happened to step in a pile of shit and came out smelling like a rose. When Rodgers got hurt the first time, he looked lost and clueless. Expect more of the same.
Green Bay will be lucky to win two more games the rest of the year (Cleveland and Chicago, maybe) but Teflon Mike already has his excuse and nothing will be said. Horrible state of affairs if you ask me. Thank you.

Claiming that the Packers have had a flawed offensive line for years discredits anything this bozo says.

It is funny watching your delusions show up after the injury.

Not saying this is what's going on here (because for the most part it's not), but it IS possible to say that Ted Thompson has done a good job, and also have a team that's struggling without AR12. Case in point: Injuries all over the place.

Part of that is cap management, there needs to be a better balance between offense and defense. I think most of us expect them to sign Devante and Linsley this offseason, that means we will be paying 4 of 5 positions on the Oline, 3 WR.

We can't afford that and still expect to improve the defense. We can't just count on first contract players to carry the defense because we are spending everywhere else.

ProFootballFocus grades individual players, not units, and they are very forthright about saying you can't add together individual ratings to get group ratings. Or at least they used to when I was a subscriber. So where are you getting this idea that they rank the offensive line in the top ten?

dfosterf (13h) : Just gotta figure out how.

beast (13h) : Yeah, someone tell the Packers football season has started, seems like they weren't ready for it

TheKanataThrilla (21h) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Zero- Did you see what I posted about Voice of Reason and his wife? She posted over at fleaflicker that they are both "In"
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Well, not crazy, it makes sense. Crazy I didn't notice/find it earlier
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : it's crazy how one stored procedure to get data bogged everything down for speed here
dfosterf (7-Aug) : to herd cats or goldfish without a bowl. They reminded me of the annual assembly of our fantasy league
dfosterf (7-Aug) : out on a field trip, outfitting them with little yellow smocks. Most of the little folk were well behaved, but several were like trying
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Yesterday my wife and I spent the afternoon on the waterfront here in Alexandria, Va. A daycare company took about 15 three/four year olds
wpr (7-Aug) : seems faster. yay
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Wife of reason posted on the in/out thread on fleaflicker that both she and vor are in
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : This page was generated in 0.135 seconds.
Mucky Tundra (7-Aug) : Tbh, I can never tell the difference in speed unless it's completely shitting the bed
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Sure does feel like site is more snappy
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Hey i didn't know we could trade picks in fantasy
Mucky Tundra (3-Aug) : Update: Rock has tried a cheese curd, promises it's not his last
