How did Dallas quarterback Tony Romo spend his free time this week? He went to the movies. But his date was not Jessica Simpson. It was a homeless man. According to the Dallas Morning News, Romo paid for a homeless man to see Role Models, and then sat with him through the movie.
The homeless man, who gave his name only as Doc, was cashing in change at a Dallas movie theater when Romo walked up to the counter and bought Doc a ticket. Romo then invited Doc to sit with him and a friend inside the theater. (When Doc warned Romo that he hadnt showered in a few days, the QB replied, Dont worry about that, Im used to the locker room.)
Meanwhile, Romos nice gesture is good publicity for the movie, which stars Paul Rudd, noted Kansas City Chiefs fan and a one-time member of the NFL Total Access Hollywood Fantasy League. When he was told about this story, Rudd replied:
You know whats funny? While we were shooting it, I thought, Homeless people will love this movie.
And when it was pointed out to Rudd that Doc never actually gave the movie a thumbs-up, he added, Youre right, he didnt say he liked it. Actually, he was probably (upset) Romo didnt opt for Quantum of Solace
