Corey Linsley is the next Green Bay Packers veteran in line to get a new deal.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Packers are currently working on a new contract for their starting center. This the final year of Linsley current contract.

I love seeing these extensions, most of the time they've proven to be smart investments that have saved the Packers millions in cap space in the long run. Linsley is a great candidate for one, he's been getting alot of love from the coaches and media this offseason and with his injury history the Packers can probably get him for 4-5mil a year. But if they don't extend him and he stays healthy/productive for 16 games like his rookie season that # is going to jump up quite a bit.

I'm very curious how this deal will compare to what Tretter got in Cleveland. JC's departure can only fully be judged by how much we give to Linsley. If it's a lot more then it was a huge mistake to let JC walk when we could've gotten what I feel was the better C for less. Even if you think Linsley is better, they aren't separated by much, and the money will really be the way to judge what we did with Tretter.

Did you ever hear of the concept that a college player is pulled from a draft board due to injury? Great players get drafted at lower to much lower rounds than if healthy, right?

Well, injury concerns harm a players value in FA too.

There's a huge difference between these 2 when one factors in relative health. BTW, when playing in the past Tretter was a better Center, the problem was he couldn't stay healthy. We'll see if injuries slow him and or shorten his career or if he can get through more than 7 games. The difference in dollars wont tell ya this! This is your anti-Ted bias on display again.

For 2018, priority FAs were :
#1 Taylor check
#2 Linsley check

You couldn't know then how to feel about his departure until you saw what the Packers gave Linsley. Now, that time is coming and we shall finally see how wise it was to let JC go.
