Why are we signing so many other teams scraps?

The Packers signed linebacker Ahmad Brooks last week and they've added another former member of the 49ers defense. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Packers have signed defensive lineman Quinton Dial. Dial was released by the 49ers over the weekend and paid the Packers a visit on Monday. But probably trying to improve the depth of the team.

It seems like they are adding toughness and run stopping guys, which is nice, especially since we're about to face a number of teams that like to use power running in our first 5 games.

If they didn't think that, that would make them insane, and I don't think they make changes like this with no thought going into it. I saw a lot from Ringo this preseason so I'm sure they did too.

Almost 1000 players just hit the Free Agent market , if a GM did not take an honest look to if he could strengthen his team , then he would not be doing his job . I am surprised by TT's level of interest this season. Perhaps he is finally feeling the heat now !

Starting Defensive lineman cut because he didn't fit with a team anymore after they switched to a 4-3. Also released as part of a youth movement. This guy sure sounds like an upgrade over our #5 dlineman. Ill take the upgrades where i can get them.

I like this... therefore, it must not be Ted. :)

Weird to add two pieces from the worst run D in the league but we will be tougher with Odom, Brooks and Dial. That has been one of my major complaints. Softness on D, and no speed on O, and a lack of trying to upgrade crap players via more than just the draft. I'm a much happier fan this season than most.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

It's been really nice aggressively trying to upgrade both ends of the depth chart. Sure still some tough spots but old Ted would just wait for the young guy to develop and hope for a jump. New Ted not waiting anymore. Go time
