A lot of your argument is simply about 40 times... and not about how a player plays on the field.
So you simply want to keep the fastest 40 times guys?

Also Cobb's 40 time was faster than Nelson... but Nelson is the one that get plays deep a lot more often despite the slower 40 time...

One of the main things I think of is what is Geronimo's ceiling? Could he ever be better than a 4th WR? I want the guys who if, God forbid, they have to play due to injury have the ability to climb as high as possible. Janis was able to step into a role in the AZ playoff game that I don't think Allison could've.

When Jordy went down Cobb proved he wasn't a 1. Davante proved he wasn't a 1 either. You would hope if you have to push a guy up in the pecking order he would at least be able to be serviceable. I can't imagine Geronimo serviceable if he had to move up. Sure, he can grab 12 balls vs. some really down the depth chart DB's but is that guy going to beat better competition? I don't think so. Davis might be able to...Janis has...Clark with his height is a nightmare. Max is a try hard guy who is smart with great hands and good straight line speed who I would trust less than Geronimo. Yancey is the most unknown but he looked good vs. Philly the night I was there.

As for how many we're going to keep I'd bet the under. If we're playing a lot of two TE sets there's going to be less need for the WR position, so backlogging it with 7 doesn't seem to be prudent. What would make more sense is keeping 4 TE's if 2 of them are going to be a staple of the offense. I understand the reason we're going to run 2 TE sets is because we finally have 2 legit TE's for the first time in forever, so RR and Peck wouldn't actual be a two TE set we'd wanna use.

EDIT:. Should've said that with running a lot of two TE sets, the need for more WRs on the actual field decreases. Would rather have backend never see the field WRs have actual upside. Counter argument is you need guys who can get it done, too. Should add beast might be right on Geronimo. That was only his first year last year. Perhaps, he can make a jump? If he's the better WR I hope he sticks over the one who isn't but you do have to weight who is better now and who will be better especially at back end of the roster.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Well an angle to consider at WR is Cobb could be gone next year if he doesn't have a better season, Jordy is over 30 and I think 1 more year left on his deal, Davante is a FA this offseason and could get paid more than the team wants to pay. We need some guys in the pipeline for the future whether they are good enough to get snaps with the guys currently on the roster or not.

I mean it worked so Yay but that's probably some of the most clunky, un-athletic looking stop/start jukes I've ever seen.
