Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson give Kevin King his welcome-to-the-NFL moment
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Kevin King says his shoulder injury isn’t a problem. Nor is he worried about Aaron Rodgers picking on him in practice.
The Green Bay Packers' top draft pick returned after missing one practice and when he came back, he was put to the test just like cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt wanted. It was a day earlier when Whitt said he was going to ask Rodgers to throw King's way more often.
Sure enough in Thursday’s evening practice, Rodgers went after the 6-foot-3 cornerback in the two-minute drill, and King had his welcome-to-the-big-leagues moment. Jordy Nelson caught a 9-yard out, a 16-yard slant and a 10-yard touchdown all against King.
King had worked extensively with the No. 1 defense before that but until then he had not been tested much.
“I think that means they want to see if I can make the play or not,” King said Friday. “I try not to overthink things too much.”
