--- Notice anything? Many argued making a big deal out of Starks getting a 2 yr. 6 million dollar deal was crazy.

Eddie will be lucky to touch the 3 million paid out to James last year and Eddie is well south of 30.

Running backs just don't command big contracts anymore. Eddie will be fortunate to find a job next season.

If we want Eddie at all he'll be ours for very little. I said in the Starks thread we should give Eddie the kind of contract we gave James. Looks like even I shot a little high meaning I undersold how bad James contract actually was

Starks was a serviceable player at one time. But that contract was ludicrous to give a part time starter.

I'm all for giving Lacy something along those lines, though I'm betting we pay a little more than 2 mil. I'm betting it comes out to around 1.5 mil base salary with close to 1 mil more in incentives (Pro bowl, 16 games, yardage, etc). He's still got plenty enough tread for at least 2-3 more years of solid production (if we retain him), and I think it would prevent us from using an earlier pick on back.

I would wager that 2 million is the bottom end of what Lacy might get. Odds are he ends up with more.

Starks was also in better position last offseason than Lacy is now. Lacy has been out of shape and injured. Not good bargaining chips.

If Lacy can be had for around $2M I think that's a no brainer. Low risk, moderate-to-high reward. Have him split duties with Monty, Rip, and probably another draft pick. But ultimately, Lacy would be a good committee running back when affordable.
