Wow you assume a lot. But let's look at this from Sitton's view, assuming he wanted to be taken care of by getting a contract:
The starting LT, C, and RG are all free agents. And in light of all that, if Sitton says "give me mine first, Ted"... well that's pretty selfish of him. You actually want that level of selfishness?
Let's not forget that Ted was also the GM who decided to redo Donald Driver's contract towards his last couple of seasons to give him a raise on his base salary.
Oh, also, let's not ignore the countless other players that have received extensions in (Daniels, Rodgers, Mathews, among others). This is one example that shouldn't change what is generally the fact that Ted by and large prioritizes his own players over others.
That said, boy this is shocking. You have to believe this isn't a last second decision - that it was being chewed on for a while. So Ted should've had time to evaluate an O-line without Sitton. For the sake of his franchise QB, Ted better have a really good Plan-B.
